Market Forces

I suspect this is related to market forces (ie - Sirius charges $12.95 and this is what the market will bare). In addition, both of the satellite radio systems are still losing money.

I am 2 cars and the second XM radio only costs $6.95/month.

By the way, I suspect you can lock in the current rate by prepaying for multiple years. I have paid for 2 more years, I'll have the XLR for at least that long.

I'm already locked in to the family plan for four more years. The XLR is the only "single use" XM unit we own.

We love our Delphi SkyFi units. We have a cradle in my company vehicle, my wife's company vehicle, one in the den hooked into our home's entertainment system and one of the portable boomboxes.

It appears the rate increase will come with the inclusion of two premium service channels allowing them to justify the added cost and at the same time hopefully generate additional cash flow on the front end.

Hey, it's business.
