The August issue of Road & Track has a special feature article entitled "8 Hot Coupes Face Off:". One of these is the XLR-V vs. the new Jaguar XKR. In general, they like the V's performance but the XKR has a more posh interior. That's so those Brits can drive bare-butt and get a real thrill.

Hi Pegasus,
I`ll get the Aug. Road & Track around the 20 th of Aug. here in Germany. Can you please tell me the 0-60 and 0-100 mph numbers of the V and the XKR?

Gee, seems like the interior complaint has been pretty universal in the automotive press. Personally, I really like mine. I wonder if GM plans on doing anything to address those comments in the future.
ebferro, I like mine too but if I`m true they could have done it better, especially when they take "BVLGARI" for design.

Hans:

The numbers are as follows:

0-60mph XLR - 4.3 sec. XKR - 4.4 sec.
0-100mph XLR - 10.2 sec. XKR - 10.5 sec.
1/4 mile XLR - 12.7 sec. @112.3 mph XKR - 12.9 sec. @ 110.4 mph

The XLR is, of course, a V.

Oddly enough the guy that parks next to me in my deck has an XKR. I t is a really nice looking car especially from the rear.

I drive him nuts when I follow him in in the morning and turn on my mild to wild exhaust--other days I leave it off. "How come your car sounds like a a hot rod sometimes?" I tell him I am just turning the charger on and off.

Standby , assuming your V is stock, with all due respect , unless the guy in the Viper is really poor there ain't a snowballs chance in hell someone will beat hiim in a V. I have dragged both . Both my Vipers (Gen 1 and 2) leave the V in the dust. No knock on the V (I love mine) It is just reality.

Not bragging here, but I gave him 4 shots at 4 lights and should have been racing for titles, I would have 4 titles. Granted everyone doesn't handle a race car off the line like everyone else, maybe I ran into one of those and a small engine Viper? However it sure looked bad.
Mine is stock but I do have the ram air with the Volant cones, and you know how the supercharger loves air. I also have my switch for the baffles open wide which lets me get rid of a lot of exhaust.

I agree about "Hole Shotting" a GT. Standby and I had this very debate after a friend of mine go one of the cobra Mustangs. It's fast but the suspension and the super wide throw on the 6 speed are impediments in my assesment. The thing squats and burns off the line.

Having said that I do agree that a visit to D3 might help out. I am just not sure I want to do that to my car though.

Regards

As much as I love my V......you can't touch a viper unless the guy is outside pushing!
