XLR-V grill to fit my XLR

:cool I went to the local Cad Dealer parts man yesterday. He looked up the parts sheet for the XLR-V and gave me a copy of the screen print out. Some of the parts don't have prices yet but all the part numbers are there. It looks like you may have to buy the V hood because there is a chrome strip on the front that is not on the regular XLR. Can Mr XLR help with prices and will V grill fit?

Hi Johnsovl,
that is the regular hood but raised in the middle part. The chrome stripe on the hood must be put on when you want replace the regular grill with the original V grill. Should be no problem!!!
I`ve checked this out when I saw my first XLR V in september in Frankfurt.

The Strut Grille may be expensive but, to my mind, beats painting plastic.
If you also install the lower one, be prepared to give up ACC.
I did both, and am a happy camper. (I don't want a computer controlling my brakes or throttle.)

The Strut Grille or V- Grill

:cool The prices were not totally available at my dealer on the V grill parts but it looks like list it will cost $1500 to $2000 uninstalled. What is the best price on the Strut Grill? and best vendor to buy at?

Hi Brooks,
I know it looks so good on your car but I would be also interested on the price of the upper and lower grill.
Thanks

Here's a picture of the Strut Grill they installed on my car....OK my picture isn't as nice without their beautiful model in it, but I really like the looks of the grill. What a complete difference it makes in the looks of the front end!
I actually was not sure if I would keep the grill on my car though, because I never wanted to give up my ACC, and if I could only have the upper without the lower, I would rather have kept my painted grill.
Here's the shocker for you all, at least it was for me.... the ACC works fine!!
I can't understand how that radar can send signals through a heavy metal mesh screen, recieve signals back and function properly without interfearance, but it does!! I've been dirving it for 3 days now, and testing in every condition, and it has worked perfectly every time. (sorry Standby, it STILL will NOT come to a complete stop....I tried.)
Busta Rhymes said his works, but I refused to believe him,
Brooksmorris said he dosen't want a computer driving his car so it didn't matter....but did you ever actually try it?
Strut says forget it, but I'm sure they are concerned with liability issues.
All I can say is mine works fine, so it's staying on my car!:thumbs
I want to change the Strut badge for a Cadillac emblem and you'll probably see my painted grill on Ebay soon!

I've admitted that I was being generous when I said to a complete stop. But 6 miles an hour is damn close to a stop, and I was the one that put it to the test while others just talked the talk.................I walked the walk
Merry Christmas testing is everything
Got your stocking hung up? I know how you just hate these things. Well, I hate people beating a dead horse

Sorry, I didn't mean to beat on a dead horse and the humor is probably long gone on this,
and since you still think 6 mph is close enough to a full stop we really should leave this one alone.

Merry Christmas to you too...or is it Happy Hanukah?

Strut has an MSRP of $5000 for the set:eek ,
But Allen Cadillac in Laguna Niguel has them for either $2000 or $3500,
I don't remember which price was posted by Brooksmorris and the other by Standby.
Brooksmorris owns a set.

I loaned them my car for R&R in trade for the grills at no charge:thumbs

BTW, the ACC has not been as reliable as I first reported after the first three days use.
It will occasionally pick up a false object (the screen) and begin braking. :banghead Be aware that it is an issue.
