XLR Rendezvous 2006

The XLR Rendezvous is set for June 10-16, 2006 in New Mexico. We have scheduled fun events such as a poker run, parties and a park-n-shine at the hotel or local Cadillac dealership. There is great sightseeing, dining and shopping in New Mexico, and we have several casinos.

In Albuquerque there is Old Town, zoo, aquarium/bio-park, the world's longest tram up to the top of the mountain (with a restuarant) and of course hot air balloons. We will caravan to famous Santa Fe and Taos for shopping and galleries and will also travel to historic Lincoln (Billy the Kid territory) and visit Carlsbad Caverns.

Since there was insufficient interest, and costly, to obtain the use of the race track or for a golf tournament, these have not been set up. We will work on getting a good deal at one of the local golf courses for anyone who wants to golf while they are here. If interested, let me know.

We have a sponsor who has offered to donate a golf shirt and baseball cap to the first 25 registrants (so hurry up and register). If you don't make that group, or would like to purchase a hat or cap, let me know and we can arrange to get them for you. These items will not be available for sale at the event and will need to pre-ordered and prepaid.

Albuquerque is the hot air balloon capitol of the world and anyone who has not taken a flight doesn't know what they are missing. Anyone who is interested in purchasing a ride, let me know. As a commerical hot air balloon pilot, I can recommend several good local pilots ( and get you a good rate).

This will be a great event and will have the largest collection of XLR together since they were introduced. We will have great fun, parties and some nice door prizes.

Get your reservations in early. Due to hotel requirement, April 10th is the cutoff date in order to have head counts for events. Make plans now to come to Albuquerque for a great vacation.

Please contact me at [email protected] and I will forward you all the information and a registration form. You can also contact me by mail at: 834 Sagebrush Dr. Corrales, NM 87048 or on my cell 505-379-5629.

Hope to see all the forum members here in June. Jim Stokes

Additional info

It was pointed to me that I failed to post some info. For those who contact me for registration info and forms, when you receive the info you should reserve your room at the Albq. hotel for Sun (6/10) thru Wed (6/14) nights and make reservations at the motel in Carlsbad for Thu (6/15) and Fri (6/16). Also remember, a sponsor is providing event shirts and caps to the first 25 registrants, so hurry to get your free stuff. Shirts can also be ordered for $14.99 and baseball caps for $10. Looking forward to hearing from all of you XLR owners. Jim

Hey Jamie,
Hans and I where wondering how many reservations have been made to date. We where kind of hoping some others have contacted you by now. A four car line going down I-25 wouldn't get much attention.
Hope you guys had a nice time over the holidays.
Bob

I am considereing making the trip (all the way from Philly) but wanted to make sure I could devote the time for the trip out, there, and back. Is there a day-by-day schedule someplace (I thought I had seen some mention of one previously)?

No Bill, it`s not amphibious:lol all I do is take it on a long runway in Bremerhaven, get it up to top speed and let it fly, fly, fly till I hit the runway at Cape Caneveral.
That`s the trick:glol

Harry

It is starting to look good for me to get away for this. The thread has been a bit quiet. Any more owners interested?
Glad to hear it. We will be looking forward to your registration. It should be a fun time for all who can make it. We all get a chance to see several owners' XLRs and some of the new V's.

Hi Jim,
maybe you should write " the first 100 registrations get an 06 V for free" :glol I´ll bet you have the 100 by later today:lol
Just a:jester but I hope we`ll see at least 30-50 of these extra class automobiles for this rondezvous.

Have a nice weekend

Harry Hans

It should get out in the mail Monday. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
