Anybody know anything about this?

He claims his kit will allow on-screen control of the Ipod and get track info as well.

It kinda looks like a hacked up GMIP-01 mod, but I can't tell... anyone know anything about it?

Thanks...
I looked at the sale and it certainly seems feasible. The method described makes sense since he is "just" faking-out the XM interface. I would want to be sure that XM is still available once the GMIP-01 is installed before purchasing.

I wonder if this is the original source of the module or if this is just a reseller? The XLR in the photos looks like it has had a wood kit installed, as well.

From looking at it and looking around the web, the price seems a bit steep.

Not a kit...that's a V interior
That's not a wood kit or V interior (which is the same as the XLR interior) what that is, is the 2006 interior which has the additional wood around the CD slot. I hear it costs about $635.00 from the dealer.

Well, thats the question... it LOOKS like a GMIP-01, but not quite... what he describes is SIMILAR to the GMIP-01 I installed in my '05 Denali, but its not the exact same.

Is this, in fact a GMIP-01, hacked into the XLR head unit?

Does the standard GMIP-01 work fine with the XLR?

Is it plug and play? Do you have to hack up the wiring harness to make it work?

Can you buy a harness to hack up?

Anyone know anything about this? :)

I wrote the guy and he told me it was a plug and play.
He said you went into the console were there are 4 torq screws. He said if I wanted photos he would sent them to me. I told him yes that would be nice but he never sent them to me.
So I emailed him again and he said he sold them both. I ask if he would be getting any more and I asked him if he would send the photos anyway but again he has never emailed me back or sent and phots to look at.

I got on the web and found a site that sells iPod interfaces and sent them email asking them if they had one for the XLR. Here is what they sent me:

Hello Blaise,

According to the manufacturers we carry, there is no iPod interface available that supports the XLR at this time. However, there are many new products in the works for GM vehicles so please check back with us in 60 days as I may have more information for you then.

Best Regards,
Derek
iPodCarParts Team

a subsidiary of David Levy Company, Inc

Now I also asked them if they knew anyone that might make or sell an interface but as you can see they did not answer that question.

I will keep looking.

If he can produce more of them, I'll totally buy one... its excatly what I was looking for.

iPod

I have my iPod alomg with a switch in my consol. When I plug in my iPod I then flip a switch that alows me to play my iPod directly into my FM radio. So I still have XM and AM radio. Works great, drive along and say "XM2", "FM1" or AM. The whole recieving unit is installed under the gear shifter.

Groadster.

Does your interface plug into your radio somewhere or is it using some kind of wireless transmitter?

Can you see your iPod songs in the display on your radio or do you have to look at the display on your iPod?

Can you use the controls on your steering wheel to change anything?

How much was the interface? Got any photos?

Thanks
