Anyone had problems with the window indexing into the "up" position while the door is open, thus making it impossible to close the door?

It is happening on a regular basis (although only 1-2 times a week) with my 2004 XLR. Its in the shop this week for the current recall, so they will look at it .

The only way I can close the door is to re-enter the driver seat, hold the door button in (which casues the window to revert to the "low" index position) and then close the door. When I open it a second time, it seems to function normally.

Other items being looked at this visit to dealer include:
- driver seat speaker breaking up
- new upgraded digitial OnStar has high pitched whine when using phone feature
- rough idle that has been discussed in other threads

Somewhere on this forum is a thread on how to re-set the windows - something like holding down the driver's seat window button for more than 10 seconds to re-set the computer. I'm sure your dealer will know about this.

My problem with the windows has reached the chronic stage. When I get in and close the door, the window does not index the the fully closed position until five or more minutes later. This is not good in the rain. Although this is happening most of the time, it didn't happen when I took it to the dealer the first time. Another intermittant problem (probably associated with the other) is the door will only open by using the floor release. The micro-switch has been replaced once. The peculiar thing is, the window usually closes fully when I get out of the car.I've tried to fake it out by getting in but not placing my weight on the seat. No luck.
At least the dealer has now seen the problem. Back to the shop next week.

Reset

Ed and Sandra - Thanks for the reference, but that seems to be about resetting the express up and down features. That works fine on mine, its the indexing when you open and close the door that is intermittently failing.

We'll see if they can reproduce it in the shop.

It applies to Express Up and Down, AND Indexing. Let us know what the shop finds.

Best regards,

ewl, always hope it something that simple.

Maybe the rough idle will be the oxygen sensor on the recall.
