What OPTIONS would you like to see them add...

Seeing as we are all talking about the next models. What options would everyone like to see on the next model/models.
Or maybe things that the 2004 has but would like to see changed or enhanced.

One thing is when you exit the car and have the seat programed to go back it should raise the back of the seat first then move back. Right now if you have the back leaning back some it hits the wall first but then moves up after the seat moves back..

Little things might make it in the next cars "first"... Any others???

How about some choices on wheels and tires. Most likely the V-series will address this though.
How about a trunk light where it does some good? The current lights seem to always be covered or blocked by stuff. How about a separate phone that is integrated into OnStar, similar to what MBZ has? How about different wood options and appointments? Dare I say windscreen?
A more discreetly designed XM radio antenna would be nice. :)

I would vote for that one. If they can hide the one for Onstar then they should be able to do something with the XM one.

Make the maps in the nav. system work better in the 1 to 4 mile range.
I like to drive in the country but the NAV. maps only show Major roads when you are out passed the 1/2 mile setting.
I would like to see the smaller FM "farm market" roads in the 1-4 mile range so you would not have to get out your paper map to see where they go. :seeya
I would like to see more horsepower, the more the merrier, & improvements to the tap up-down shifting action. It seems as though tap up-down shifting would be enhanced if the shifter movements were shorter & the shifts themselves were quicker.
Also, they need to improve the auto lock feature so passengers locked in when the driver leaves. I would suggest that the door should open, no matter what, for passengers, when the release button is depressed & held for a period of time, say 2-3 seconds.
Along with improving the door lock system & the appearance of the satellite radio antenna, as previously mentioned, it would also be nice to see a parcel shelf/cubby hole or even simply a rim on the console, for laying small objects, like my cell phone and wallet. This modification would not really be an option, but would rank high in my suggestions to XLR product planners. Even though I use the built-in OnStar phone, I've always got these items with me in the car. :cheers
Cup Holder storage

LoveEldos:

The additional space you are talking about was designed into the cup holder. All you need to do is simply pull up on the cup holder divider for a storage section designed for a pair of glasses or a cell phone.

I have found that many individuals were not explained about this functional cup holder/storage space.

Door Locks

Please let me clear up some missconceptions about the door locks. If two people are in the XLR & the driver exits the vehicle with the passive lock turned on, the doors will lock in 5 seconds. Due to the fact that the manual lock/Unlock buttons are in a high position at the top of the door panel, that switch is deactivated for safety against theft reasons.

Like all Cadillac models there is a manual door release if there were a reason that the power button did not function. on the CTS, Deville & seville you need to raise the small knob on the upper door panel.

On the XLR all you need to do is raise the small levernext to the sill plate in front of the seat, it is the manual release of the door.

Like all of our cars it is a manual door release, not just a way to open the door in an emergency.

Also about the cup holders it would be nice if they would insulate them better on the bottom side. When I put a coke can in there and drive for a about 30 min. the heat from under side of the car makes the coke very warm...

If they wanted to go one better they could but a switch on it to make it cooler or warmer like they do the seats.. That would be great for everyone, Some like it HOT so Cold.....

More stuff

Having had my CXrimson Pearl for exactly 1 week, I haven't had alot of time to think about new options or changes, but here are a few:

1. The Heated and Cooled seats could use a few more settings (my navigator had 5 each way).

2. I would like to see a integrated, separate phone with OnStar too. First, their rates are just too high (when will they see that lowering the per minute charges would get them more money?); Second, you have to have another phone anyway, when you walk away from the car. My Sony Ericsson with Bluetooth works great in my other car with handsfree.

3. More room in glove box would be nice.

4. Better seats (I believe this was addressed in a previous string some time ago). I am not that heavy, but I seem to bottom out the seats when I go over just an average to significant bump in the road. They also could offer more lateral support.

5. A compass in the mirror would be nice (all the other mirrors of similar style seem to have it including the Deville I drove as a loaner last week).

6. Pass through into the trunk might work.

That's all for now.

My wife would like to see them make the pedals adjustable. She does not like to set close to the air bag but she has to move the seat up so her legs can get to the pedals. We have adjustables in our other SUV and trucks. I don't think it would be hard to add. I am thinking that GM though only men would drive this car but I am sure that other women like to drive sport cars also.

Automatic Top Closure

Several top of the line 1950's Cadillac convertibles had a feature that

automatically raised the top at the first sign of rainfall/ heavy misting.

I'm sure it would be a no-brainer to add such a feature to the XLR!
More thoughts

On the lines of automation. I had a system on my Corvette that raised the windows when you set the alarm. It would also be nice for this automatic feature to be available as you leave the XLR and the lock/alarm is set.
1. Nav directions and other gauges (tach etc) in HUD like in the new C6 vette

2. Quiter seats when being heated or cooled

3. Choice of wheels like BMW and MB

4. A retractable divider in the trunk instead of what they have now

5. Nicer shifter - the CTS has a much better feel. The XLR shifter feels hollow and has too much movement

6. A space for a cell cord to go thru from the center lighter in the armrest

7. Blue tooth for Cell phones

8. Digital On Star

9. A built in rubber band on sun visor like other chevys have to hold items

10. A nicer start button - do I have to share my five cent piece of plastic with teh Corvette?

11. Adjustable Pedals

12. A louder beep when roof is finished closing (Like in a Lexus SC430)

13. More detail in NAV - even in the closest setting many streets unmarked (VERY ANNOYING!) when trying to locate upcoming street

14. More leather in the interior doors etc

15. Its own nicer HVAC Unit - do I need to share this $1.00 item with a $30,000 Cadillac CTS?

Overall this car is GREAT but like everything could be improved just a bit to make it a little more upscale.

I really would have preferred to have had the HVAC integrated with the Nav/Radio display. That would have left a little more room to expand the display and also include one more strorage location. It also would have allowed the voice recognition to work the HVAC. Much more convenient to combine the functions and if implemented correctly doesn't require any additional user work.
It seems like they could make the voice recognition a little better too.. when i say "go home" they system says "turning system off"... it really makes me mad :)
Voice

I work in Information Technology and we have been waiting for good voice recognition in medicine for 10 years. The answer always seem to be another 6 months off.

I actually find the voice recognition on ONStar and the Nav/Radio system to be better than most. They do fail a disconcerting amount of time, but often get it the next time.

The other thing I have found is that "top down" the failure rate goes up considerably (probably background noise).
