what grade of gas are you using in 2006 xlr

picked it up two weeks ago and need gas

my eldo with northstar used regular!

what does new baby need?:confused
Well, as you know I drive mine in Germany and use Super-Benzin, that`s in the US premium.
The older N* engines you could drive with Regular but this new V8`s uses Premium.
So, fill it up with that and it`ll run excellent.

I don't run as hard as Harry, "I don't think any can here in the states" but I have used all three grades of gas and have not found any difference in the way the car runs.
With that said what I now do is run two or three tanks of REG. gas then one tank of HIGH test. It works for me!!

I don't know about anyone else but when I first bought my XLR, I got 25 miles to the gallon using regular on Interstate 10 cruising at the legal speed limit of 70 in the East. When I switched to high test I got 27.5 miles to the gallon going the same speed on Interstate 10. The most I got was 28.8 but that was up north with the speed limit of 65 on Interstate 81 in Pennsylvania..:yesnod Henry in Panama City, Florida

From the Owner's Manual:

Gasoline Octane

Use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of
91 or higher for best performance. You may also use
middle grade or regular unleaded gasoline rated at
87 octane or higher, but your vehicle’s acceleration may
be slightly reduced. If the octane is less than 87, you may
get a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs,
use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as
possible. Otherwise, you might damage your engine.
Here's the actual reference:

We always use 93 octane. Why screw around with anything less for an XLR when the difference is a few dollars per tankful?

Best regards,
Ed and Sandra
