Anyone from the west coast, including Nevada and Arizona, and of course any surrounding states, that would like to caravan to Bowling Green for the weekend of the 17Th in August should stay in touch with this post as well as the post from Jim's rendezvous II post who is heading up most everything.

Our first day (800 miles) to Albuquerque, will start at 6pm PM on Monday the 13Th in August in order to arrive in Bowling Green on the 16th which is Thursday night. Jim will be announcing the motel at BG.
We are planning on picking up other members at Flagstaff from other cities not in California. We would assume that other members east of Albuquerque might join, we just don't know at this time.

Tuesday the 14th, we are stopping in OK. City (535 miles)on the south loop around OK. City. (I-40 will shake your teeth out from either side of OK. City)

Wednesday the 15th, we stop in Memphis (465 miles) and will be going to famous Beale Street for the best damn ribs in the country.

Thursday the 16th, we head for Bowling Green (275 miles) and will get in early to park and shine for our tour at 10.00 am on Friday morning, the 17th.

We don't have hotels picked out yet, but everyone should make their own reservations at each city, except BG.
This won't be easy, but if all members in the caravan give their cell phone numbers in advance, this might keep everyone on the same page.

While Hans and I are not trying to steal Jim/Jeans thunder, we are trying to get some sort of caravan going from the west coast. Hopefully I haven't stepped on anyones toes here. We will hand the gauntlet to Jim/Jean on monday night.

Any advise would be gratefully appreciated

Bob, It sounds like you have a great plan going and we hope several people can join in along the way. We would probably like to join in with you as you pass through Albuquerque. Lets hope that attendees from other areas can do the same sort of caravan and make this a great vacation trip for all. I hope that we won't hold you back since we don't have V's and will have to stop periodically to clean up bird carcasses.

I learned a lesson in Victorville last year. I really don't like working a week and giving it to a lawyer. God knows they need the money, but no big amounts from me, so i'll keep my speedo under 100.
Hans might be the one that will crank it up on occassions. Hopefully he will get it all out of his system by the time we reach ALb.
http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZS We may have to stop to keep putting air in the tires.............NOT this time, we have that problem fixed.
We have two that I know of from SO Cal and two from Phoenix, mine and Hans GTO or new V. That's six which is the same amount we had at the 1st Rendezvous in Alb. I think we could hit 25 to 30 which would be impressive. Tell Jean we are putting her up front to clear a path through the birds.
Have you guys experienced the bad roads on I-40 around OK. City?

Bob, I haven't been on that stretch of road for a couple of years. It seems like they were always working on I-40 at OKC and the road has been in poor shape there forever.
Jim and Jean,
expect Bob and me rolling into ABQ with our pit-crew (my wife and daughter)on monday aug. 13 th. evening.

I hope we can go out for dinner before we leave the next day for BG.

Bob, I just flew back to Springfield Mo in December and picked up an old Dodge that I drove back to Phoenix. For the first time in my life the Interstates in OK were in great shape, maybe it was that Torsion Quite Ride :lol . No telling what these recent ice storms will do to that situation though.

I will meet you folks in Flagstaff to pick up the caravan. There are now 4 XLR's at work so I am trying to convince a few others to join us for at least part of the trip.

Kent,
I only noticed this by coming back through OK. City from the east coast in 05 with my 04. It feels like your on a railroad track and this was a long stretch of road from the east side to the west side of the city and I'm sure they haven't fixed it. So to be safe we should take the southern loop around the city.

We could meet any vehicles plus yours at the end of I-17 and I-40 at exit 195. You would come right under I-40 and there are a few gas stations on the right, probably a Chevron if my mind serves me well. We would be leaving @ 6 am, stopping in Barstow for breakfast around 9:00, and would probably make Flag by around noon.
We can adjust the time by cell phone once we leave Barstow using the Nav system. The Nav system will give us the approximate time into Flag based on our speed, then we will call you.
If by then we have others joining we might have to hunker down for lunch and wait for others that might be off on the timing, waiting time would be an hour................This is going to be tricky at best, especially after we leave ALB. for others to join after that. This is why we need everyone to sign up early and commit to this early.
