I just got my XLR back from being in for routine service. I had asked my dealer to look at the headlight turn signal/DRL lens as they looked like they had cracked or crystallized. Apparently this is a problem with the early cars as the dealer stated that the temperature in that housing was too high and created the condition mentioned. What amazed me is that they replaced both headlight assemblies complete. They look very nice.
The other item that I spoke to them about was the driver side upper leather seat cover. Apparently a wear spot had developed ( I think Bob mentioned he had a similar issue) and was looking very tacky. Again my dealer replaced the cover (took about two hours). Other than those two items I haven't had cause to complain. The dealer service manager stated that they had seen these issues before.
Just wanted to let everybody know about the items I had a problem with.

Fred,
I think you have a great dealer and are truly blessed. I also have the back section ordered under warranty and just waiting for it to come in at Tustin Cadillac. My car is at Allen's due to a faulty fuel module which left me high and dry on a flat bed and will be the last time my vehicle goes to Allen Cadillac for ordering the wrong part and has been there a week. There arrogant attitude has me bewildered after buying two XLR's and leasing a CTS for my daughter. They obviously think they can treat customers like dirt.

Bob,

I am truly sorry to hear of the way they treat you out there. I really must say that both dealers that I have gone to (Hendrick Cadillac, Cary and my selling dealer White's Chevrolet-Cadillac in Roanoke Rapids) have treated the XLR as something really special. I know I pay a little more for my maintenance but...I think they appreciate my biz. Hendrick is in the neighborhood by my main residence and the White's folks are near the lake house.

In your case Tustin sounds like they are tuned into your needs. I guess when you find a good dealer it is really a good thing. My wife's previous car was a Mercedes SLK. The local Merc dealer was like Allen, arrogant, snooty and just plain a pain in the a**. They will never get my biz again. Quite frankly we only strayed from GM because my wife fell in love with that little yellow SLK. Overall it was a good car but not at all comfortable. Hope you have better luck in the future!

Fred,
In regard to the wear spot, is it on the door side of the side bolster on the seat back? I bought my '04 used and it has a quarter sized wear spot about 8 inches up from the seat bottom. It's the only mark on the interior and I thought it was from the previous owners phone or pager or????

Rick.................my wallet from sliding in. (no,it's not fat, just a dozen cards) I now drop myself into the seat and this will not be an issue anymore.
I notice that you had it replaced while at the dealer. I had to order mine over three weeks ago and haven't heard a thing. Maybe I will stop by today and see if it came in or forgot to order it.

Bob, I haven't done anything to mine yet. I was going to have it re-dyed but if Caddy will replace it under warranty I'm right there. That's why I wanted to confirm the location and that other people had experienced the same wear spot. Now, as far as wallets go . . . if fat one take the dye off . . . mine is so thin it should repair any worn spot.:yesnod

Just move it to your right pocket and this won't happen. I have already started practicing.

That is exactly where mine was...but my cell phone is on my right side and nothing is on the left. Same for my wife..it looked like it was going to wear through to the foam. The spot was exactly the size of a quarter. Isn't that strange? I haven't been driving your car and I know you haven't been driving mine.!!! I don't think that dying it would be a solution. Actually my dealer had ordered the part previously. Sorry for the confusion.

OR.........................cut that ball and chain mama put on you to keep you out of trouble before you get in the car.
You Guys Just Have Way Too Much Money Which Is Causing The Wear Spot.

My Suggestion ---Send The Money To Me And....No More Problems Wearing Your Seat Out.
