I recently purchased a satin nickel XLR - it is a remarkable car and fun to drive. Thanks for the recommendations.

One evening, on several occasions, the gas gauge dropped to empty and the DIC said to Service Fuel System. Even though it has not happened again, the dealer is replacing the fuel level sensor, as a service bulletin said they could read erratically.

Recently, often when I push the voice button, it immediately says, "System is checking the disk, please stand by." Everything works fine manually, but even after 5-10 minutes, usually the only way to restore voice recognition is to remove and reload the Nav DVD. (The dealer replaced the Nav DVD shortly after purchase, as there was a Cadillac bulletin to replace all the Nav DVDs, as some were defective, and could jam in the player.) What could be the problem that it has to check the disk so long?

Also, is it normal to always have to press the "I Agree" button on the screen every time you start the car and want to display the map?

(I was going to ask about the "cooled" seats, too, but I see someone already did. Even on HI, the cooling is modest at best.)

Well Jerry,
Living in Nebraska you should have ice cubes hangin on your butt with the cool seat on HI, but all kidding aside, it does keep you from sticking to the seat and mine works pretty good in California. Other seat has my water bottle on it because of the heat in the cup holder. It's getting hotter!

I have had the CD get locked into that mode also but shutting the car off and on usually stops it.
There is no way around the "I agree" button to this date. I'm very pleased with my XLR considering all the small things that go nutty with all the high tech stuff in this car.

Jerry - this has happened to me as well and it is quite frustrating (there are a couple of threads several months ago concerning problems with the voice recognition system). Like you found, the only way to correct it is to stop the car, eject the disk, and reinsert it. As Standby reported, turning off the car accomplishes the same thing. I inquired about this with Cadillac customer service and they gave me a standard textbook answer -- maybe the DVD is having problems reading the disk as it might be dirty or scratched. It wasn't so there must be something else going on.

Might be icicles in several months in Nebraska, but right now it is mostly in the 90s!

The voice recognition now seems to be working about every other time I start the car, unless I manually eject and reinsert the DVD.

The Nav system responds to voice commands, of course, but why did they tie the whole voice recognition to having a Nav DVD inserted?

Frankly, I think you are getting jacked! I've had my 05 Satin Nickle since last September and never had nor would I accept such a problem. I don't believe you have to put up with it and I'm guessing that Cadillac, if pushed hard enough, will find and fix the problem for you. To accept anything less is BS :banghead

BTW I live in Florida and although the cooled seats will not give you chills it makes for a comfortable drive under the southern sun :)

My 2004 had both problems ie: Service Fuel System and dealer replaced sensor twice. The second time it worked.
I have had the "System is checking disc" message once on my 2005 and never aqain. Maybe is was just one of those things , one time. :flag
