After the car has been sitting overnight there is a noise (sounds like a whirring or whining noise) from the transmission that continues until the vehicle is warmed up. Has anyone experienced and/or noticed this problem? :banghead

Well no, not that, but I have noticed a bad shift point when winding out first gear, there is a bad lag between first and second.

Transmission or Rear End?
I have noticed that first thing in the morning, after backing out of the driveway, a minor grinding that I can feel on the back of the seat -- seems to happen twice as I start forward and and no other time.

Brake Squealing is back!

I had new rotars installed about 6K miles ago and I'm starting to hear the brakes sqeal again. I know a few members had similar problem and also had rotars replaced and wondering if they experienced a reocurrence!

I have had the same noise. "we" fixed it with rearend drain and new gear oil made for posatraction plus GM additive they have been putting in vets for years with the same problem..

I had to show them in service manuel on what page it was located. Once I did that one hour later the noise left and hasn't returned. (3000 miles).

Hopr this helps.

EYEDOC:

I POSTED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE WITH THE PART NUMBERS ON 12/10 MESSAGE #1.

WHO IS YOUR DEALER -CAPITOL CADDY.

REGARDS

I had been experiencing a noise from my rear end when I was turning (similiar to the plates in a positraction unit sticking) I mentioned this when I went into my dealer yesterday to get an oil change.

They called the factory and were appraised that there was a "new fix" for this condition. It seems that they use;
-- Positraction Additive GM PART # 1052358 (used in other GM models).
-- GM Synthetic Differential Fluid GM PART #89021669.

I have run the car some and it seems to have quieted down some and I expect it to go away after the new fluid and additive get to all of the rear end parts.

I'll let you know what happens over the next few weeks.

Same problem different car

Transmission or Rear End?

This is the same thing my 06 V does. Dealer hasn't seen the car yet but said on the phone he wants to drain the differential. I also notice a 1-2 shift lag; not smooth; but a pronounced jerk.

Is this still common in 2006s?
