Unsure if anyone has experienced this - but under initial throttle step on / step off, getting a momentary metallic sounding "thunk" coming from the transmission - espcially noticable in stop and go traffic. Assume this might be related to clutch engangement, etc - and the car appears to be holding gears longer before upshift. 2004 XLR w/ 15k miles. Issue just started this weekend.

Thought I would inquire around prior to making yet another trip to the dealer service.

Appreciate any feedback.....

I got on mine more than 15K on but this transmission is the best I`ve had in all my GM cars. No noise, nothing - shifts very smooth and I drive it hard sometimes.

What I would do first, check out the tranny fluid level.

transmission noise

while having my 06 xlr serviced last week, i read about some of the forum members having this noise. I made a call to the dealer and they changed out the fluid and put an additive in with the fluid. there is supposidly a notice on the escalade doing the same thing. the dealer went ahead and did the replacement of fluid on my xlr just to make sure I would'nt experience the same thing. no questions asked, just wanted to insure I was happy with my car.
