My XLR was having an increasing wind noise problem so I came to this site and an old thread helped me debug it. I wanted to follow up and share the love.

The introductory voyage with my XLR was from Atlanta to Dallas (June 2013). No problem.
About 7-8 months later, I started to notice some wind noise as speeds above 90mph. OK, slow down. Then speeds above 70mph. I noticed when I closed my door with the windows up, my whole roof would "poof" up.
The exterior (painted) body panel was lifting off from the frame. By summer this year (2014), the wind noise was happening at about 40-50mph. 105 degrees in Dallas and I am relegated to a full time convertible to protect my top from landing on the road behind me.

I read the forums here. One member (post retired since 2010) mentioned getting a $3400 roof replacement by warranty for a similar symptom. I also found that something similar is a factory recall on same era Corvettes.

After speaking to a local Corvette specific custom shop, I decided to take my car to another high end body shop across the street from my dog's occasional day care place. The owner's initial estimate was..., nothing. Skeptical and after further investigation, I brought it back a few weeks later. He re-quoted "maybe $75, after adhesive". When I went to pick it up, they ended up charging me... nothing! He said it took 10 minutes with a wooden wedge and a half a tube of body adhesive. Sweet!

So, if/when you get the top separating from the frame, know it's likely a quick cheap painless repair that you can do yourself. I have since had no issues with the body panel separating.

It was fortunate that you caught the problem before it became worse. A member on another forum had a catastrophic roof delamination at speed, which could have been really ugly for anyone following behind. As such, his top was trashed and not cheap to repair.
