·Since owning an 04 and a 06-V, I never had any malfunctions with the top except for the gate which was replaced on my 04.
Today I thought I had joined the club with the top getting stuck half way, but much to my surprise, was not the case.
Evidently my gate was was hanging by a thread and when I went to put the top down it stopped half way.
I got out and reset the gate and that's why I can't join the club.
I would suggest doing this before you panic
