We don't know what the law pertaining to such matters may be, if there is any, in California, but in North Carolina there are definite restrictions on after market tinting. You might want to investigate that aspect before proceeding.

Best regards,

I tinted side only in a medium grade and keeps the heat out. If you do the rear, you won't be able to see out the rear window with the rear view mirror that changes darker when bright lights hit it. Also watch out for tint that has metal in it. Could raise cane with cell phone, on-star and maybe xm radio. I was told this by a guy in the business of tinting.
I want to tint my windows, has anyone had their windows tinted?? HELP!!!

Tinting makes a difference

I had a company called Ziebart tint all but the windshield on my Crimson Pearl 2005. They're a franchise with 400 locations and did a very neat job, $140.00 total.

First off, the sled looks so much better tinted, really sharp with the darkened glass. The immediate result was a substantial reduction in the heat while driving windows up as well as after it was parked in the sun. Seeing out day or night has not been a problem

I selected the tint that was metalized which gives the glass a smoky 'mirror' look from the outside affording you real privacy. Also, the metalized tint does not lighten over time as does normal tint.

Finally, I have not noticed any diminished reception with my cell phone, On-Star, or XM, due to the use of metalized film. Ziebart knows what each state allows as far as tint darkness goes. So, that should be your guide.

Good Luck.

Top Down - Windows Up

Do the installers install the door glass tint with a "relief" at the top of the glass? I don't know how it would look with the top down - windows up. All vehicles I've had tinted in the past had the slight set-back for sealing clearance, but with a convertible, I wasn't sure how it would look.

Ken, don't count on it, that new wind baffle doesn't block anymore wind than my Plexiglas WB. Just looks cleaner and neater. I bet ya 05 cents. Maybe we are talking about different WB's.
.....and mess up my pretty hair?! Windows up. Come to think of it, I haven't tried with windows down and windscreen installed. Maybe there is hope.

My windbaffle is much like yours (but lexan). Mine is the same as the one Galen posted pictures of, in that I made his too. It's just between the roll-bars and not all the way across. We'll see next time with the windows down if I get blown away...............as soon as the wife returns home with the XLR. I miss it already.

Thanks to all of you for your input on tinting. I did as some of you suggested and talked with a friend who happens to be a Police Chief, and California does have some restrictions on window tinting, he also reminded me that I need a front license plate on my car (which I don't have, because I like the way it looks without it.), or I could get a fix-it-ticket. So I then reminded him, I would bring the ticket to him for help!! So I think yes on the tinting & no on the front plate. Thanks again to all of you!!! :cool

sound like ya made the same discision I would have. I already have a bumper with two holes which I plugged, but since my dealers drivers smacked my bumper and they are going to fix it or replace it. The plugs will go bye bye.
