Hello!
New member as of this morning, 3/15/2006.
We bought our 2004 XLR last November and cannot get enough!
My concern is over the tilt steering wheel.
It seems that it does not tilt high enough, making it difficult to slide into the driver's seat. Anyone else experience this, and is there a solution?

I found the same thing. The automatic tilt does not tilt up as much as the manual ones I have had.

It is what it is. Not sure why the limitation, maybe someone else knows.

I find that it kinda helps to get in behind first, sit, then swing the legs in together.

That is how I have been getting into the car. I just wondered if there was something I was missing. Getting in this way has to be hard on the seat and the fabric.

I'm 6' and have all the room in the world with these items set in this position.

Hi Standby, how do you fit? I'm 5'8.5" and can BARELY get comfortable with the seat all the way back--you must be all torso with 30" legs!

I let my buddy (whose 6'4") drive my XLR, and his knees were higher than the top of the steering wheel with the wheel tilted down--he'd never consider an XLR due to the tiny ****pit .

(The stars are for the other name for roosters! :glol )

BTW MCD-02, I complain that the wheel doesn't tilt down low enough or extend longer, because of the lack of legroom--with the seat all the way back, my legs (30") just make it, but I can just barely rest elbows on the armrests and control the wheel properly--1 more inch up AND down would be very helpful (do you ever listen to us Cadillac?).

Thanks Bob, I played with all kinds of settings for exiting the vehicle and I guess I just got lucky. I had it set higher and could get out much easier, but when I lowered it, it was difficult to get out. I think it's an elderly thing.

I think people have different ideas of what is comfortable. I'm 5.9" and move the seat UP about 2"....the steering and controls are in perfect position. But I also have a 30" waist which should be considered too:rolleyes

Yeah, but Jordan probably only drives it once in a while, choosing between his other 20+ (50+???) autos--a little discomfort may not be so bad, but to us "mere mortals" that drive our XLR's every day--it has to be comfortable! :yesnod

Again, I'm totally cool w/the comfort of my XLR, I just don't see how people with long legs can fit--note I didn't mention overall height as the big issue, its legroom.

I have a college buddy (from the early 80's) whose 6'3" with an enormous torso and 30" legs--he can fit, although he might see better over the top of the windshield with the top down & the seat all the way up!:glol
