I love pretty much everything about the XLR, but the one thing I hate is that you supposedly have to have the car turned on to raise/lower the top due to how much power it draws.

I just don't understand how it can be so much more power than other cars such as the Lexus SC430, SLK350, SL500, etc...

On my SC430 I had a neat toy called 'Luxlink' installed that allows me to hit a button on the stock remote, walk away, and the roof will raise itself and the car will be locked. As I approach the car I can have it unlock and lower the top all from the remote.

I absolutely love this feature, as by the time I'm in the car and it's started, the top is down, no waiting 26 seconds. Same thing with parking, I just hop out and the top goes up as I head for the store. If I didn't have this feature, I know I just wouldn't go top down as much as I do now.

Anyone try to do something similar to the XLR? Even if I have to have the car start itself up and lower the top, that'd be fine with me.

Here's the info on Luxlink, they actually used my SC430 in the pictures on their website. =)

They had my car early last year for two weeks to try to install a unit
.......they couldn't figure out how to power it up. :cry

Nice enough people, but I was very disappointed in the outcome.
Two week use of my car with nothing to show for it but rattles and blemishes :banghead

We really admired that ability on the BMW's (remote top down).

You can change the top on ACC, engine off. Works fine, do it often.
