For anyone else in the Bay Area, GM is hosting a "you-drive" demo show at Great America this weekend. "150 models" from various makers, etc. Apparently you have to go through extra sales schtick to try out the Corvette or Hummer, but the XLR is only on static display. See http://www.autoshowinmotion.com/

Anyway, from the CDROM they mailed out, here's a stock photo they used; it's more than 100KB so I can't post it here. See http://xent.com/~rohit/Cadillac_XLR_Full.jpg (800 x 375 pixels)

I went to one of these in Anaheim and was very disappointed.
Alot of waiting around for extreamly short test drives.

You are required to test other crap before you are "qualified" to drive the Vette..
you're made to shift to 2nd way before needed and by the time 2nd kicks in the course is over......and your co-pilot will yank the E-brake when you get out of line!!

For me, I'd rather spend time on the dealers lot and get personal attention.

Heck, I'll let you drive my C6 anytime. It's a kick in the ass; both my 02 Lightning and 03 Cobra made more horsepower (with a pulley swap and chip) and had snappier acceleration, but the C6 is tight and pulls through the gears like a freight train.

So what you need is a C6 Z06, one of the fasted things on the road and an almost unbelievable price-tag.

I would agree Harry, however I have time slips to prove that my 03 Cobra turned the 1/4 faster than a stock 2006 Z06 and with less than $3,000 on bolt-on parts. There's always a faster car out there, so I think we will hold out for an STS-V for the wife. She prefers an auto transmission. :thumbs
