I accidentally posted in the XLR-V section. I did a search on Stabilitrac and didn't realize I responded to a XLR-V issue. So, I've moved the issue description here (where it belongs)...

I'm curious if anyone has experienced this problem and knows what the fix is for the problem?

Driving along with Adaptive Cruise enabled. Straight road with slight bumps and rolling pavement. Mostly flat road, though.

All of a sudden the ACC turns off and the beeping starts (no pedal push or change in the cruise control was done at the time). The DIC appears to have a message but only a blank screen appears for a split second followed by the regular DIC message (the current "range" in my case).

This continues at the rate of about once every 15 miles.

On the fourth time this happens, the XLR lurches left and then corrects back right with no steering inputs, the ACC turns off, beeps start and a static Service Stabilitrac message appears. The TC indicator light has a slash through it as well. Cycling of the TC button does not change anything (other than putting Traction Control Off/On messages on the DIC). Turning off the car and restarting eliminates the Service Stabilitrac light and extinguishes the "no TC" light.

I take it to my dealer. They say they have located an open (I assume in the wiring) in the Stabilitrac system that was pointed-out by a service bulletin. My wife picks the XLR up from the dealer.

About 15 miles away from the dealer, the car lurches right and then corrects left with no steering inputs, a message starts to appear and then doesn't. By the time she got back to the dealer this had happened an additional 6 to 7 times. My wife said that one or two times she could see "Stabilitrac" in the DIC before the message went away. Needless to say she was very nervous by the time she got back to the dealer. BTW, my wife refuses to use the ACC, so that was off this time.

Any ideas as to the cause of this? I don't like the idea of the car losing control because of the system that is designed to prevent the XLR from losing control (that would be irony)! The dealer will obviously be hearing from me about an unsafe condition that they placed my wife.

Just had my Traction control system fixed. Problem was a failure in the Steering Position Sensor - it was replaced

My can did not pull - but had a "surge forward" when decelerating (as if you tapped the throttle for a moment).

Once repaired I have not had the experience (but only about 40 miles on it since).

Jim, just got my XLR back. After talking with Cadillac tech support, the dealer was told to replace the Steering Wheel Rotation Sensor (part #015231656). So far, so good. The first occurence of the problem had been appearing at around 15 miles and I think I put 30 miles on the XLR driving back with no problems.

Sounds like there is a common part to the problems.

I am having this problem as well but my problem is that the warning message is not constantly on - it comes and goes. The dealer said this message could be the result of a cam and rotor issue since Stabiltrak has sensors in that area.

sensor

I had the stalb. and the abs dislay twice. When I asked the dealer they said all the read-outs are stored in the computer and they got a read out. No driving issues but they changed a sensor.
I don't which but I've heard before it was a problem
