My new V has an intermittent problem. I get a flashing warning that my stabilatrak system is inoperative about one out of three times I drive my car.

My dealer is a long drive away and I'd prefer to wait a while before I make the trip.
Anything to be concerned about as far as hurting the vehicle if I wait a few weeks ?

I had the same problem with my '07 V right after I bought it. When you turn the ignition off and restart the car, the problem goes away. I have about 3700 miles on it now and haven't had the problem for several weeks (3 or 4).

Hold on here, and I mean hold on. Anytime your stabilitrac light is on, you do not have TC/stabilitrac. My V is in the body shop because I had no idea I couldn't keep driving it like I always do........fast and hard. STOP the car immediately, and shut it off. If the light turns off, your good to go, but if it stays on, watch your cornering. Don't wait until you get home or work to shut it off. DO IT NOW.

I drove home called the dealer and made an appt. When I restarted the vehicle the warning light was off and has not gone on since. I believe that it was some anomaly that has corrected itself.

Thanks for the warning though !

My 04 used to do it all the time and once I shut it down it would be gone. It supposedly has to do with getting the car out of sorts a little bit. The car corrects for your boo boo and then gives you a warning that you have done something abnormal with the car, such as putting your foot on the brake at the same time you have your other foot on the gas.

Never any problems with that, beside I switch the traction control or TC and stability track off by myself.

Gorilla in a Tuxedo

I've been toting that for 6 months. When that front end comes up, it stays up through the first 2 gears and then slowly comes down. I call mine ichiban (#1 in Japanese for those that don't know. I also call it my gorilla in a Tuxedo.

Hans, you already know this after driving mine...........soon you will have your Gibbon in a Tuxedo. New 20" Dub Dirty Dogs really look good on the V. Should have it back by next Friday. My XLR 04 is a dog compared to the V.

You got that right Bob, your V just flyes away with the nose up:lol :thumbs
The 0-60 in under 5 seconds from Cadillac is absolutely true, I guess we did run your V in this category allways in the 4.5 seconds.
But top speed, we did it twice, you and me with 158 mph could be a little higher (at least for me here in Germany) My DM will beat yours there. Your V will easy walk away from me up to 158 but then I´ll get you.:glol

I took my XLR in today and it had T/c problem, they replaced the sensor in the steering wheel and filled my tires with nitrogen, for free. in CS Co. can't beat that.:party

Yes, but only when I am in Colorado Springs, back in W.V. I have to take to a dealer who has never had an XLR in stock. they do my oil changes and provide me with a vehicle when serivceing my XLR or Z06.:party

Just received one of those questioners for Allen Cadillac, guess they won't be getting any rewards based on my answers.

RUH-ROH !!!
It happened again. I was driving along at a constant 45 mph when by " service stabilatrak" light came on again.
I stopped the car and restarted it . The light extinguished and has not reappeared for 3 days.

About 5 minutes before the light reappeared I hit the throttle and the system was activiated as my wheels lost grip momentarily on bumpy pavement. The sytem seems to have difficulty resetting itself.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order after all. Maybe a computer bug ????

JH,
All they will do is clear the computer and tell you that you got the vehicle out of sorts and tell you that they cannot produce the same results as you did, and hand you back your car. Now if you have time for all that, by all means go to the dealer. I guess I should have been more clear as to what I was saying.

Bud, why was my 7 attempts to get mine fixed at Allen Cadillac never fixed?
All they did was erase the computer and tell me it was my fault for driving to wild, but then again that was Allen Cadillac.
