When leaving Vegas on #93 to I-40 to Albuquerque, I took it to the limiter at 158 mph. Hans, not to be out done when on the I-40 took it to 158 also. I think Hans was hoping for more. It wasn't so much the 158 but how fast we got there.
We did have a problem with the right front rim loosing air when going over 130 three times down to about 19psi. I hope I have corrected that problem with nitrogen in all four tires, done for free by Grand Prix Performance in Newport Beach, CA. They seem to be running cooler now. When they where finished, the DIC read all four tires flat, limit speed to 55 mph, but by the time I got to the dealer it had fixed itself..................this car is just plain awesome...........it fixes itself.
Talk about people mobbing your car. everywhere we went people couldn't believe what they where looking at.
One more light platinum/black interior V at Allen Cadillac for MSRP. I see a lot of talk on the forum about V's under $85,000. I just don't understand where this stuff is coming from when the car cost a dealer $85,000. Someone want to spain this to me Lucy.
Bob................Glad to be back home.

Hey guys, I was able to hit 181mph for a short strech on across east colorado before reaching co24 at 1am . the fastest I've had the Z06. no cops, no deer and the two cars I passed must have wondered where I came from. great fun, I love these western roads. will stay out here for a month or so before returning east.:jester :jester

OK, I don't mind being up staged on the V post, but Hans is going to be pissed since you beat his 179 in Germany:cheers What ever happened to you, we would have shared the road with you had you come down to the Big A.
Why are we limited and the Vette's aren't

Nope Bob, Hans isn`t because I did 304 kph in my 02 C5 6 speed vert and that`s 189 miles!!!!!

But still, Budsvett did very good numbers, 179 miles, that`s 288 kph:thumbs

Hans

My C6's A4 shifts from third to fourth at 155 mph (full throttle run) and so far I've only seen 174 on the heads up display but it was still pulling and the car felt very connected to the road at that speed.

To Bob's issue with losing air, I have complained three times and had my left rear tire/wheel water-tanked three times looking for a mystery leak that only occurs when I run at or above 100 mph for more than a few seconds, the higher the speed the faster the loss. It will go from 30 psi to 19 psi, depending on how fast and howe long I run at speeds above 100 mph.

So far, their best guess is a small fizzure or crack in the tread that only gaps open under the pressures generated by high speed and the increased heat. Their best advice, stop driving like an idiot and it will be fine..................
Thats sounds like alot of fun doing 180 but isnt that scary i ahve only been 150 and it was alright but 180 dang.

Gee, in their wisdom did they ever think to move the tire to another rim to see if it was that tire or the rim? As for us being idiots, does that make all Indy drivers and Nascar drivers idiots too. Now I do realize that they have a lot of protection and they are only endangering other drivers on the track but I would never run passed anyone at those hight speeds for fear of what might happen if they pull out to pass, so I shut it down.

Well I was on my way with good intentions and I stopped in Colorado Springs and I met a really nice lady here that I had known years ago and she is now
single and she insisted that we get to know each other again. so what can I say.
Life is short at my age and one must take every option that comes around.:jester
They did mention breaking the bead down and re-seating the tire on the wheel, but mounting on another wheel is limited other than switching tires on the two back wheels. What the heck, I'm at 30,000 miles now so new tires will be necessary very soon.

As far as driving like an idot - well, I've lived this long and don't plan on changing my driving habits any time soon so they better plan on a new approach if the leak continues!

:cheers you got that right Bud, can hear the wedding-bells ringing:glol :glol :glol

Thank you for your Email butwe had a lot of fun too.

Was very interesting for me to take Bob`s V to the speed limiter. At 200 kph (123 mph) mine does in 5th gear 3300 rpm - Bob`s V did at 123 2500 rpm - a great six speed auto he`s got in it!

Hope the export V is also not limited than I`m sure it easyly will do over 180 mph

I'm glad you got a chance to drive one
....without a salesman telling you how fast you can go:nono
BUDSVET:

I don't think Cadillac will make a XLR STATION WAGON for you so be careful!

Mercedes VS. XLR-V

I hope all of you received your car and driver magazine today. The July 2006 issue.
It showed the V at 4.3 seconds 0-60.
There were only two Mercedes that beat the V. One was the McClaren at a cool half million dollars and it is faster by 2/10ths and the other is the $186000 SL model.
Lets see if I have the math right. For $86,000 less dollars you get more of a car. And if I remember correctly someone was saying the interior was plastic on the caddie. Only part of the doors are the rest is pressed leather. Just like Porsche.
Corvette $75K 0-60 3.7
XLR V $100K 0-60 4.3
Mercedes MC $500K 0-60 3.8
Mercedes AMG SL600 $0-60 4.2
I also am one of the Mercedes owners and yes they are excellent cars. My wife has the 2006 CLS 500 AMG. It is fast and beautiful and incredible inside, just like my XLR. I have the Nieman Marcus edition with custom paint and interior and it is literally my "Jewel".
Can anyone of you imagine what Cadillac would produce for $186,000.
I lived in Frankfurt for years. One thing that my local Chevy dealer did for me was make my 86 vette into a Porsche killer. What really caught my interest was his incredible appetite for Corvettes. You see in Germany the customs people charge a 100% tarrif on the american cars. In Germany the Corvette is revered as the Porsche used to be here. Now you know why. Porsches are cheaper than vettes and caddy's in Germany. Imagine if we did the same thing here. Yet we still compete.
I just traded in my Beechcraft Bonanza for a Diamond Air and yes it is from Germany. Times are a changing. Yet the new Beech Jet is going to be a real temptation in 3 years.
One upmanship is never ending. :thumbs

Hi Adam, three magazins, three different numbers.
First test in C&D 0-60 was 4.7, in Motortrend 4.5, in Road&Track 4.3

I had the chance to drive Bob`s (standby`s) V last week while I was for the XLR Rendezvouz in the US and compared to my XLR the engine/transmission is much more powerfull - it really runs!!!!

0-60 in the low 4`s is easy to do and you`ll hit the 100 in about 10 sec.

I tried very hard to convince many on this site that this car was capable of 4.3 and a few discounted that, but a C06 Vette owner sat in the passenger seat and clocked me at 4.1. I'm going to rest my case at this point. This is more than a hot car, it's a real runner.

Best buy I've ever made, thanks for sharing
