Congratulations Allen on your sale of this great car to a high profile customer.
Glad to see you involved and hope it carries some promotional value.

Not to split hairs on this, but my V arrived at my Calif dealer on Jan 19, and since I was away on business, I took delivery two weeks ago on Jan 31. What day did MJ take delivery? I assume it took some time to prep and have his wheels chromed.
If I PM my VIN# can you confirm order of production?

Thanks

How does he fit?

I'm only 5'8" tall, and barely am able to get the seat far enough back to get comfortable in my 04' Xenon/Shale.

How can Michael Jordan possibly fit?

I guess he can raise the seat until he can see over the windshield, but if it rains, he's in big trouble!:glol

Hi Gents,

My V is Infrared with Shale interior. I saw it out at the LA Auto Show when I was out there for business in January and fell in love. My daily driver is a 2004 CTS-V so I'm no stranger to the V-series. I traded in a 2003 Viper SRT-10 and the Cadillac dealer plans to leave it on his showroom floor for awhile to make a point.

I should be able to get some pictures up later today.

Point well taken on the Viper!
After you get a chance to get around in your V,
I'd like to here your comparison of the two

I understand all V's are being delivered in covered 18 wheelers, not just MJ's. Anyone else see their car when it arrived and how it arrived?
Mine shipped on the 13th and should be here around the 21st............I hope.

Covered XLR Carriers

Bob,
Allied Carrier is the carrier for Cadillac,, all XLR's come in covered carriers and always have. MJ's XLR-V was picked up from the plant by Reliable Carrier,,, the only Car in the truck and brought to my door.

The official release to commerce was January 19th. that is the day that allied would be able to pick up the XLR-Vs and load their carriers with 9 vehicles to be sent to dealers.

The deal with MJs was his car would be the first XLR-V delivered to a dealer world wide, that is why Cadillac had an independent carrier waiting at the plant for the official release to commerce and his car was directly brought to me.

Thank you

Allen,

Can you please shed some light on how the XLR-V VIN’s are being administered? Also, can you give us an idea of production numbers for the 2006 model year; what is planned and by how much it may vary?

I hope GM does not make the same mistake as Dodge did with the 3rd generation Viper. The market called for about 1,500 Vipers per year, over a 10-year period, and then Dodge decided to practically double the production. It has become a laughingstock with new 2004s still sitting unsold on dealer’s lots. The new 2006s are selling at or below invoice, and after 2 new Vipers they have lost my business forever. People like myself are currently paying MSRP for the XLR-V. It will be very disappointing if others start paying $10k under MSRP, in the near future, because of overproduction.

It's my understanding that this would be the 2,229th XLR built for 2006.
They do not seperate the V's from the standard XLR.

Which I think is :bs way to go...there is no accountability!

Allen should be able to confirm this and have info on first V VIN#

2 Turkeys in every pot and two cars in every garage

Gm wanted to attach the stabilitrack problem to the lemon law and therefor wanted to use the 15,000 mile instead of the hot console at 1,500 and came up $7,000 short in their offer, so my lawyer is suiing. Probably go to arbitration in 2 or 3 months and as long as GM gives me the whole amount or more, (upt o twice the amount of the car) which is what the lawyer is suing for, I'll take it. My lawyer never showed GM all the posts from this site about the hot console and probably would have given the whole $88,000 to me. Damn lawyers, always looking to make more money out a case.
To answer your quesiton.............I will have two XLR's in my garage until they settle the case. No big deal, I'm paying cash for the V anyway.

Nations first XLR-V and to Whom

Rick,
The XLR-V's will be using the same last sequence as the classic XLR, meaning a classic XLR could have a last six of 601845 and the next xlr down the line could be a XLR-V with a vin of 601846.

The plan is to produce about 20% of the regular production, or about 750 -800 XLR-V's

XLR-V production is greatly limited due to 1 important piece of criteria:

1- The Northstar 4.4 (down from 4.6) Supercharged 443hp engine is completely assembled by hand.

So there will be no drastic production increases.

Thank you
