Gents and Ladies -- would like to know your feelings about dredded interior rattles, noises, etc. that u r experiencing in your beloved XLR. I just broke through 8k miles and am not very happy. As time and miles accumulate the rattles & noises just keep on coming. Also since I am in the windy city, the top has been up for months. Am I alone or do I have company. :confused

Only have a squeek where the seat rubs the fiberglass in back of my seat. Sprayed the fiberglass with silicone and the squeek stopped, if it does it while I'm away from the silicone, I merely move the seat up a touch.

I had half a dozen or so when I got the car, some wre fixed....visor replaced....mirror replaced....entire door panel replaced....the few that were left I've learned to live with. I usually have the radio up so loud and the top is always down anyway.... But I would NOT say any more have developed along the way, and I'm over 20k

That's funny, I've got a 2000 Grand Prix Daytona Pace Car in the other side of the garage that I can't give away. I have it with a broker, been on e-Bay and every car Url on the Internet............It's like brand new and I can't get anyone to even look at it.:cry

No rattles on my XLR - DTS or Vette!!!

Order of best quality: one XLR
two DTS
three Vette

Bob, your GP looks good, but with this look it should have a V8 in it, not a V6 :nodno
:lol if you can`t sale it, trade it for a 05 GTO - a good car!!!! :thumbs

Hey Harry, are you a mind reader? That's exactly what I was going to do in order to get rid of it, but just sold it last week on E-Bay. There is a auto God.
Actually it was pretty hot for a 6. I changed out the wheel on the supercharger to a smaller one and picked up about 45 hp. I ran a few ram-air SS Trans Ams and jumped out to an early lead only to have my doors blown off at about 50. The 5.0 Mustangs couldn't get me until I shut down at 80, so I can still say a 5.0 didn't beat me.

Hi Bob, do you buy something else to replace your GP, or you just waiting for your XLR V? The performance of your GP was petty good :iagree
Still no rattles or noises on my XLR. :thumbs When I made last friday my 600 mile trip I had my XLR up to 276 kph (172 mph) but the curious thing about is, the analog speedo stops at 260 km but the HUD showed 276km - there is no speed limiter on the export-model!

No Harry, I just need one vehicle, plus my van for work. As long as I have the van, I don't have to takek the XLR out in the rain, However, I did get caught in a light shower which I was able to see the automatic windshield washers go on.

172 MPH? I would worry about other drivers not realizing how fast I was driving and making a manuever thinking I was driving the speed limit. That could be very a very killing experience. I guess your autobon is much safer than our desert roads.
Did you notice this forum has turned into a car bashing forum? What's up with that?

To CTSVMan,

I bought an O4 XLR w/4k on it 2 years ago and I still am having problems with rattles. I have had it at 2 different Cadillac dealers & both had factory trained XLR mechanics. NO one seems to be able to fix the problems with the rattles in the doors when the top is down and the stereo is on with the volume up. In addition, there is a metallic rattle coming from the drives seat where the seat belt goes into the top of the seat. Have you or any other forum members had similar problems? Love the car, the looks, the gas mileage, but HATE the rattles, especially when the top is down...

I don't recall anyone else reporting this issues. But as you know finding rattles is not rocket science. I would take the service manager on a ride and let him figure out how and who is best qualified to correct the issues.

I'm thinking electrical connectors hitting the door assembly. The seat belt may be a similiar type of thing....plastic trim and metal hitting it.

Good Luck in resolving these irritating issues.

Rattles and Squeeks

Plenty of rattles and squeeks in the 04. The seat squeeks as it rubs against the back panel. The rear windows pop and creek as the top goes up or down. The car rattles as it flexes over uneven pavement. They are not very loud. However when I first got the car i was annoyed that Cadillac made the car like this. The car feels solid, but it does not sound solid.

Now I just ignore it.
