Hi there,
jesterday I made a 500 mile trip to Duesseldorf and Cologne and in the factory I was I meet a guy from Frankfurt and he asked who drives this Cadillac out there.
I told him it`s mine and he asked a lot of questions but best was, he was on his way home too (about 200 km - 120 miles to Frankfurt). So we went together on the autobahn, traffic was heavy but on some parts of the 3-lane autobahn we could really let our machines run.
His s 500 isn`t a slow car but he couldn`t hold up in any acceleration with my XLR.
Through three road constructions which allows only a top speed of 80 kph (50 mls)
he catches up to me but when the construction ended and we step side by side on the pedals I just walked away from him. On a long open stretch, I´ve had mine to 290 kph (180 mph) I lost him out of my rearview mirror.

Short before we reached Frankfurt on a speed-limted part of 120 km (75 mls) he closed up to me and he gave me a flashlight passed me and went out to a rest area, I followed.:thumbs that`s what he gave and he told me he will replace his 02 Jaguar with a new XLR.

The 200 km took us about 1 hour. His 500 was 3 month`s old and has the 5.5 - 388 hp engine in it, it`s named in the US S 550.

Times Cadillac couln`t hold up with the big Europeans are over since the 93 Northstar came out.:flag

Still it's good to see some "spanking" of the competition once and awhile. I am sure that the defeat goes down twice as hard since you are a native german and didn't follow the crowd to a Mercedes yourself.

There are still 2 Black XLR-V's at my dealer as of this morning with nobody's name on them. They were smoozing me but I'm not getting out of my 04 XLR Xenon blue until they come up with a "V" in that color OR they drop the price $10-$15k.

Regards

Thank you John,

one thing I don`t like about the US is the speed limits on your great highways:rolleyes but :iagree with all other things.

I know I´ll miss the Autobahns while I´m on June 7th - 16th in the US to go with Bob to Vegas and the XLR-Rondezvous to Albuquerque/NM. And this in Bob`s new
XLR V. Don`t tell nobody, maybe he let check me out when his speed-limiter kicks in):lol

Hans,

Good work blowing off the Jaquar.

A fellow fighter pilot of mine, did the same thing, years ago.
He had a 1962 Old's Cutlass that he installed with a 300 HP Chrysler Hemi engine and used to troll the Auto-Bahn in search of Mercedes. He had a grand time kicking butt.

Nice to hear that you can do the same thing with your XLR.

Looking forward to seeing you and Bob next month.

Kindest Regards,

Brooks, the fastest top-end sedans on the road is the Cadillac CTS V and the Maserati Quattroporte because they are not governed at 250 kph (155 mph)

The new STS V8 is also able to show 269 kph (167 mph) on the autobahn.

Yes, the good old 60s, remember the GTO -442-Chevelle SS-Impala SS-Road-Runner-Cuda - these cars was almost unbeatable on the autobahns here. In 62 a 100 hp engine was a big thing here in europe while the americans showed that time up with 250 - 400 horses. One of my favorites that time was the 65 427 Impala SS with a 4 on the floor. (I was 13 and a american friend had one)

Looking forward to see you too

Best Regards
Hans
