Hello XLR owner!
I came here to see if there is any interest in making eyelids for this car. I am in the business of making custom eyelids and always looking for new markets to get into. I really like the look of this car and think eyelids that cover the top area of the headlight so you can paint it to match the car would look so good. But I know this is a very unique car and there is a certain market of people who drive these cars that I wasn't sure if you people would be interested in this type of mod.
These eyelids would not be a cheap sticker or vinyl overlay, but real durable fiberglass that can be painted to match your car perfectly. I think this would inhance the sleek look of the low hoodline and give the XLR a meaner look.

Please post your interest.. thanks
Curtis

Sorry I hadn't responded back. I posted this thread awhile ago and it never appeared.. so I hadn't been back since.

I haven't made any protos yet but I have some ideas. If you people have some ideas you'd like to have you can post up a photo chop.

I like to get a number of interested people to bring this product to market sooner. I do plan to make some eyelids for the XLR anyways. But I have plans to make alot of eyelids for other cars that I will do first if there isn't alot of people who want this now.

So this is just a Interest thread to gauge any interest in this product.
Here is a link to my eyelids I sell on ebay

Thanks

I am wondering if it will increase the heat form the Halogen lights and cause more "melting problems".

I can attest that these lights aren't cheap!! Mine were replaced by Cadillac under warranty. Being naturally curous I asked what they happen to cost and was advised that they are $1,000 per unit (all of the lights are sealed in the unit.

So PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!!!

The melting of the lens I think must be a design flaw on GM part. I don't think it would cause any more heat. I think just covering the top would look good. But also making some that cover alittle more would give it a more extreme meaner look too plus it could cover your burnt lenses! :thumbs

The lenses are covered under warranty because the origional halogen lights put out more heat than the newer ones do. However, having said that I don't know what the cover would do to contain the heat that may be relieved with the stock lenses.
