In regards to your paint chipping, I believe if you check the position of your top assembly when secured in the trunck you will find that the mounting screw or screws are to long for the fit clearance which will cause the paint. FIX: If this the problem take a file or grinder and level or reduce the excess length of the bolts.Goodluck I have a pilotcar #53 and it had that same problem.

I think the complete issue will be resolved only if you will upload the picture because sometimes such spots appear due to continue hitting of the screw. If you once repaint or remove the spot and it appear again then best recommendation is to take it to the dealer as he can provide you best solution.

It is definitely a stowed adjustment problem. I had to adjust mine myself, since the dealer could not figure it out. I also ground the sharp edge on the trunk bracket, which was cutting it and spot sprayed the ground spot.
