I now, too, have the "few drops of oiil" leaking from the front of my 2004. I have read all of the previous posts re: the fix, but have a question or two. Has anyone used Marvin K. Brown Cadillac in San Diego, or De La Furente for engine work? And, is there a service bulletin on this problem? Appreciate input.

I believe there is a service bulletin that might cover your problem...on the early 2004-2005 models there appears to have been a problem with the front timing cover leaking.
I highly suggest that you contact a reliable dealership that knows the Cadillac Northstar engine and can repair the problem competently. Best of luck.

Thank you ... I want to be prepared to talk with the dealerships ... I was hoping that someone from the San Diego area could suggest the dealership best prepared to help us out. Again, our thanks....

Hire a two year old to crawl under your car to see axactly where the leak is coming from. I used a jack, but I didn't have a two year old available, that's how I found it coming from my engine mount.

Sooooo, lots of leaks to choose from, eh? Well, next week will tell the story for me, but I am still leery about taking my car to a dealership that i don't have any feedback on ....
In order to isolate the location, can you tell by where the car was parked about where the leak or drips are on the ground. For instance on the drivers side in front of the front wheel. Center of car or closer to the front door. Just trying to give you some help as to the generalized location and then from there you might be able to get an idea what component or area it might be. :cheers

Aloha! I guess it wasn't you on Mission. No I don't do any engine work with this Marvin Brown, wouldn't want to screw up my warranty.

its Marvin K Brown Cadillac dealership in Mission Valley ..... but, no matter. we went to De La Fuente Cadillac today in El Cajon, spoke with their service manager... he said he had 2 certified mechs on site .... we have an appointment to track down that pesky leak tomorrow .... and the OnStar upgrade .... so, won't be looking for the 2 year old .... or the kitty .....!! ;-]

Thanks to all of you .... and the diagnosis is: Timing cover leaking. The dealership ordered the parts today .... whew! What a relief to know that this issue has already been addressed and has a bullitin on it. :seeya
