There seems to be a big misunderstanding about what is covered under the XLR's inclusive maintenance. The program is called "XLR Premium Care". The warranty covers Cadillac's scheduled maintenance (not the dealers recomendations).

The XLR should have a single oil & filter change every 10,000 miles or 10 month intervals. You may also have it changed under warranty when the message in the DIC (Driver Information Center) says change oil now.

If your dealer tell you that you need to change it more often, then dont be surprised if you receive a bill for it. If your dealer is not a large XLR sales point, they may not realize the warranty coverage until after you have left and they try to process a warranty claim.

Your XLR is filled with Mobil One oil, it is synthetic and does not require the old fashioned 3month/3000 mile changes. Mobil One is also quite a bit more expensive than traditional oils, and will not be happy when they realized they made a mistake.

Evey Cadillac dealer has a copy of the "XLR Premium Care" guide. As a courtesy to my clients I copy the guide on 8 1/2 x 11 card stock and give each of my owners a breakdown of the coverage.

"Mr. XLR" as alway you are nice enough point out what we may have missed in the owners manual, or were not told by our dealer.
Most of us don't read the manual till something does not work or it breaks.
With this car I think we all have to at least go thru the manual once just to get the high lites of how to make all the great features work but miss the things that we think are the same on ALL cars.
Only thing you need to change in your tip is on the oil change it 12 months not 10. I think this was just a type O on your part.

I have just had my oil and filters changed for the second time here in San Antonio Tx, 25000 miles , dealer also checked the recalls and my rear brake lines were ok. I will have it changed one more time before getting back to ******* country. by the way there is another filter to add when you get 25k miles, filter for the air entering the ****pit. :jester

That is correct, if you read the premium care warranty it explains what is covered. You may also look at your maintenance guide in the section of your manual 6-2 or there about.

This is very important, due to the almost perfect 50/50 weight balance on a rear drive platform Cadillac Motor Car does not recomend any type of tire rotations, that is the reason it is not in your scheduled maintenance guide or on the Premium Care Warranty form.

If it is something you wish to do feel free to have your dealer do it (not under warranty), but keep in mind the XLR is designed not to have rotations. And the tires should be replaced when excessive wear is found. You should make sure there was not any damage that may have caused excessive wear.

Perhaps you have some direct training that supersedes advice given in the owner's manual, but in the tire category of the manual:

2005 XLR Owner's Manul said:
Tire Inspection and Rotation (page 6-57)

Your vehicle's tires should be inspected regularly for wear. Any time you notice unusual wear, rotate your tires as soon as possible and check wheel alignment. ...
In my personal experience, by the time you notice any unusual wear there has been a significant tire life reduction.

I also own a C5 Corvette which has different sized front-rear tires and are directional as well. Those can not be easily rotated (left-right after remounting on rims only). I'm really good with not doing it, but I wonder if there is really any harm?
