Hi, there

today I read in the a german car mag. that the XLR V should be here in Germany available by march/06 and it will hit showrooms in the US by nov/dec this year.

Doesn`t this sound good to the people who ordered already one????

XLR-V Production & Color Updates

To set the record straight, the XLR-V goes into production January o6. That has been the target start up all along. The 2006 model year will be a short run of 6 months then the 2007 model will start in July.

The XLR-V with a VERY limited 2006 production will start to grace only select XLR showrooms starting mid January. Any dealer that said they would see the vehicle prior to January 2006 was incorrect.

Also, the new color for the XLR-V as well as the Classic XLR is the "Infra Red" that is the correct name. I have read so many different names I thought it was time to set it straight.

Attached is a photo of the XLR-V in Infra Red, Yes it is the same color just different lighting.

Thank You
Allen

Allen, which is the true color under normal lighting conditions? I hoping it's the more burgandy color, if not I will stay with platinum.

I'm probably the one your refering to as far as using the name Ultra instead of Infra. I hope I can start to say it right so it doesn't get stuck in my old brain.
Thanks for bringing that up.
I hear the same info from my dealter as you have noted here, so as long as I have my 04, I'm ok with the wait.

Hi Jack, take a look by a Cadillac-dealer for a 2006 STS in "Infra-red" - that`s the color!!!
As far as I know some dealers have allready 06s on their lot.

Infra Red

The Infra Red that replaces the Crimson is not the same as the Red Line on the CTS. That is much closer to the Red E of the Escalade.

The Infra Red is a Tri-Color paint that uses a heavy Xirallic Flake, it will be a 995.00 option on all Cadillac models except for the XLR as it will be a N/C feature. That was the same as the Crimson Red.

If you would like to get a better understanding of the Xirallic flake and see a larger version of the XLR painted please go to:

Hi MrXLR,
yes, you are right but it is the same color what`s available on the 2006 STS. It`s also called "Infra red". It replaces the red line of the 2005s.

The US dealers have their first ones on the lot, so it`s easy to get a look at this color.

Hi Harry,
In the US. the color on the 2005 STS as well as the XLR was called Crimson, for 2006 the color. Red E & Red line were of the Trucks, CTS & SRX.

But in true color outside in the SUN the Infra Red will look like the display XLR-V from the New York Autoshow.

Hi Allen, why they don`t put a higher speedometer (analog) into, even the regular XLR???
I´ve had mine here in Germany up to 278 kph (172 mph) but the analog speedo stops at 260 only by HUD I`ve seen it. They should have a 300 kph/180 mph speedo in it.
Same trouble with the C6 Vette which is tested here in Germany with 304 kph (189 mph) and here analog AND HUD only goes up to 299 kph.
I know, because of your speed limit in the US the most of you guys never had there cars in that kind of range but here we have the Autobahn and we can let the cars RUN.

Nice talking to you, thanks

Harry:
As you know that the XLR is governed at 155 mph. The XLR-V as you see by the photos of the cluster also only goes to 160 for the same reason. so the 160 mph spedo is more than enough since the roadster (stock) will not be able to reach 160 mph.

Allen, OK that might be on the US models that they are governed, but is not on the export models. I´ll get my XLR easy up close to 280 kph (shown in my HUD).
As I know from my DTS, it`s speed limiter shuts in right at 210 kph (130 mph) but a friend of mine, just bought a V8 STS, he had it up to 266 kph (166 mph) also only shown by HUD because his spedo goes, the same as in my XLR ONLY up to 260 kph.(analog)
If you ever come to Germany you can check this out with my XLR than you understand what I mean.
Last July I meet Bob Lutz here in Germany Duesseldorf at the Kroymans Corperation but I´ve bought my XLR after that. If I would have known this before, I would ask him what he thinks about.

Thank you Allen

With a total of XLRs being exported being less that 300 world wide excluding Canada, GM could not justify tooling for a different cluster.

Allen, I know this but there are a lot little differences in the US models and export models. Speedo shows in kph, back lights are different, flash to pass is a must here and the export models have a transmission-cooling-system (also the Vettes have it) for the much higher speed we do over here.
I´m a real Cadillac-fan, had since 1990 7 new ones + since 1998 3 Corvettes, so I really love this cars and what I try to tell you is, the spedo in these kind of cars should show at least what they are able to do.

Thank you

Man-o-man...

I think I'm buying my next XLR for European delivery, Harry!

No speed limiter, autobahn as a test track. Then ship it back to the states after the vacation is over. Mercedes and BMW do it.

Regarding the autobahn, do you have many spectacular crashes on it? Must be, at those speeds, eh?

Back in the sixties we had some highways out west (New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada) where there were no speed limits. I suppose if we lifted speed limits again there would be wholesale slaughter on the highways. People like to camp out 10 miles under the speed limit in the left lane, then give you the middle digit as you are forced to pass on the right.

Drivers here fall into three basic categories:

If they are driving lower than me they're idiots.
If they are driving faster than me they're maniacs.
If they are driving the same speed as me they're a**holes!
:eek :D :angel

I'm with you Harry. Cadillacs and Corvettes. I have two of the former, and one of the latter.
(But you forgot the part about boats and airplanes. ;) )

Hi Aviator,
yes, we do have some spectacular crashes on the autobahn but most of them, I would say over 95% are in the lower speeds. (60 - 90 mph range) As I´m myself, when I drive fast on the autobahn (if traffic is not to heavy) that`s what I always doing my concentration is fully on the road but it`s not by people doing 70 or 80 mph on the autobahn. These are the people which causes the most accidents.

Aviator, the price for the export-model is higher than what you pay for yours. The XLR costs right now Euro 79.5oo ($ 97.000) incl. all taxes so you safe a lot on buying yours with K 76 + tax about K83. Is it worth the NOT BE GOVERNED? for Germany I would say YES for US I would say no.(because the speed limits you have).

But I teel you it`s a real nice feeling when you hit the autobahn, floor your gas pedal and get it very easy up to 240 260 270 or almost 280 kph`s - most of you, US-drivers don`t really know what`s in your cars, because your laws don`t allows it. I love the USA but not your speed limit!!!!!! V8 BMW`s or Mercedes`s only get to see my back-lights and I can say for about 10.000 autobahn km`s that`s about 6000 miles on autobahn only one time a car past me and that was a Ferrari Maranello.

OK Aviator next time we take on boats and planes

have a nice sunday

Oh Bob, you don`t have it, as I see on your pics your car doesn`t even have front lights. I`ll think this model is only allowed to be driven at day-time.

Am I right??????
