Those of us from Cadillac want to thank all of you that came to the Rendezvous in Bowling Green last weekend. It was a great event and it was great to meet all of you.

At Cadillac we are thinking it would be wonderful to make it an annual event. We are thinking that it could be in May next year, the weather would be cooler and we could wrap it around a reveal of the 2009 XLR. There some changes planned for 2009 that I think many of you would find fun to learn. It would be the first public opportunity to see the new car.

Let me know what you guys think.

Pat:

FIRST let me THANK YOU for all of your and your teams hospitality!!! EVERYTHING was TERRIFIC!!

I enjoyed talking with you extensively about the XLR warranty strategy over at the Cadillac dealership.

A suggestion that Kurt and I were discussing was to move the event to the Atlanta Speedway and incorporate a "modified" verson of the Drivers school (Kurt's Idea) along with some other items of interest you and your team may come up with.

I suggested that we --XLR Forum set up 2 areas:

1. A evaluation of Rendevous II with ratings and questions your team develops
2. A poll of the various locations that could be considered for next years event again after your Team develops a "Short List"

I would expect that due to more visability on the forum of this years event and more members and XLR's sold the attendance will be significant!! The downside is whether or not many people will want to travel from California and the Western areas again due to the distance.

I look forward to working with you to refine and plan the next events.

Best Wishes

Jerry Swan

Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the feedback. We are thinking about a visit to Road Atlanta during the Petit LeMans race. We would like to have an XLR/V Series Corral. What do you think, good idea?

Pat, I thank you and all your people for the wonderful event. I am up for another in BG next yr. I know its far but it sort of the center of the counrty for most because no matter where you have it some group must drive futher then the others. We wont be at the race but that a wonderful idea. We will be at the Historic Races this yr at Watkins Glenn from 9/6-9/07 and this yr we will be driving the XLR. We should be in the racing area with friends and I know it will get a ton of attention from the thousands of racers there. Thanks again and keep thinking about that XLR club we spoke of and how you can execute it. jim

We had an absolutely GREAT time at Bowling Green! I am always good for another trip up, and I fully understand that this is the one place in the country that can really gather behind the XLR and the whole experience.

However (didn't you just know it was coming?) in order to keep the group alive, going to the same place every year (for many it is a vacation commitment) may get stale. It would be good to skip one or two years between... and try to find venues/events that favor the west cost as well as the east. Yellowstone or Estes Park for example.

I totaly loved the support and commitment from Cadillac for this event and hope to earn that for the future as well. I just hope we can find ways to keep it interesting for all.

Thanks, Frank

Patrick,

I have to go along with what Caly as said above for the most part.

Because I think we have a different make up of people then MOST car enthusiasts.
We do love our cars but we don't want to do/see the same thing over and over again.
We want to let other people see these great cars on the road and or in a group but we want to do it in different places if we can.

Would I want to come back to BG? You bet but not every year, sorry.

You mention that maybe we could meet at the place where you store ALL the concept cars. That would be neat to do I would think.

Ruth Ann " Lola's mom" said what about Tahoe or maybe Las Vegas that might work also.
I think one BIG event a year "Like this last one at BG" would work better then having lots of little ones. "We will still have our local ones in each state'.
But I would think that more people would look forward to going to ONE big get together even more.
I do hope we can plan the next one when it is NOT 104 deg. so we can run with the tops down.... Hans you have to come over sooner OR later..LOL

If we could make the next one a little closer to the West Coast then come back over to the East Coast side the year after that might make more people feel like they were not being left out or always having to drive the longest distance very time.

Patrick, It was great talking with you and your team on Sat. and I hope to have that opportunity again some day.

Helen and I had a great time in BG and I don't think you or Cadillac could have been nicer or could have done much more then you did. :thumbs :thumbs

Thanks you!

Pat,

Words cannot express how impressed I was with Cadillac's involvement with this event. The sincerity shown by all was extraordinarily impressive. Like others, I would drive to Bowling Green again but probably not every year. Pebble Beach and Tahoe are probably too far west but someone suggested Estes Park which is fabulous. If any of the proving grounds in Mesa is still intact a day trip there from Sedona or Flagstaff would be nice.

Keep up the great work. I think you earned a lot of loyalty at this event.

Hey from Martin Cadillac's Point of view, or atleast mine... Haha I think everyone needs to come back to Bowling Green, I think that was the most fun I had working! If was a great experience having you all here. I also think that it would be a good tradition to come back, esp bowling green, being the birth place of the XLR! I know we all here at the dealership would love to see you again. We have been talking areadly about next year, on changing a few things to make things easyier, and maybe have a few more things you all could do here if you all wanted. But we really really want to have you back again...... So my vote is Bowling Green! I know i dont own one yet. If you all know anyone that wants to donate me one.... let me know.... lol... Love to have you all again.....

We believe the next Rendezvous could be successfully held in Bowling Green again, if alternatives are provided which would allow new attendees and perhaps those wishing another tour to do the Assembly Plant or other things that were on this year's agenda, while at the same time other, new activities are concurrently made available. These new activities might include various workshops focusing in a structured manner on specific aspects of the operation and care of XLRs. They would be instructional in nature. Another activity might be a session devoted to answering questions which are submitted beforehand. Choices of driving tours to points of interest might be welcomed. There really is quite a bit that could be done to make the whole event a fresh experience for those who attended this year. Also, having choices from multiple offerings might help the GM folk better cope with the perhaps considerably larger number of attendees that could result if they extended invitations to all of their XLR owners.

Regardless, it's definitely not too early to begin planning in earnest for the next Rendezvous and we applaud the efforts that are being directed to the matter in that respect.

Best regards,
Ed and Sandra

:iagree Well stated, excellent suggestions. With Cadillacs' involvment and commitment along with their marketing of this event I could forsee a rather large turnout. :D

Why would it HAVE to be in GB?
With all the Cadillac facilities that they have all over the US and and the different Cadillac stores that would NOW like to host one of these events why not start a moving show.

Now Helen and I had a great time in BG and the people there were great "went out of the way to help out" but why not see what others can do and Cadillac could use it a moving show.

Cadillac could get involved from the start and use it/us to show there commitment to there cars. There marketing people could get the word out to even more people about this event. Then the turn out could be over 100 cars I would think..

Maybe I'm a lapdog, but I'd go wherever the Rendezvous was. The event in BG, from beginning to end, was enjoyable beyond my expectations!! I would be able to tour that plant every year until the day I die and love it every time, but I've always worked in manufacturing and enjoy seeing that sort of thing. Yes, I understand others don't share the same opinion.

THANK YOU AGAIN to everytone involved! It is a world-class organization!

Yep, especially in New Mexico
I like your idea a lot, Blaise ..... from I am reading in the posts, there is a somewhat a "been-there, done-that" vibration .... it would be very cool to rotate the Redezvous'. Western, Eastern, and maybe use BG as the hub every other year or every 3rd year. We enjoyed the driving and convoy parts of the trip just as well .... meeting up with new cars everyday was great ... The cars definetly got a lot of attention in the convoy.
