I am about to get 4 new tires (after 27000 miles) and wanted to know if there is anything special I need to know before having a non-cadillac shop install the tires. I assume this won't be rocket science for the tire dealer.

You know what happens when you assume.....

I've found out that not every tire dealer has the equipment for the run flats or the wheels, although they should if they carry the tires. Also, be sure that they keep the rims where they belong for the TPMS; otherwise the car will think the wrong tire has the wrong pressure. It isn't rocket science to actually reset the wheels to the correct location, but some repair shops are more clueless than others. (If you put the right front wheel on the left rear, the TPMS will still think the tire is on the right front; you might assume the system is malfunctioning when it really isn't).

print this out and take it with you just incase reseting the TPMs is necessary--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. select the ACC position on the ignition switch.
2. simultaneously press the keyless entry transmitter lock and unlock buttons until a double horn cherp sounds, indicating the sensor learn mode has been enabled.

IMPORTANT
If a horn chirp does not sound after 15 seconds, remove then reinstal the sensor activating tool

3. start with the LF tire, hold the J41760 over the left front valve stem until a horn chirp sounds
4. after the horn chirp sounds, proceed as in step 3 for the next 3 sensors in the following order
RF, RR, LR
5. after the LR sensor is learned, a double horn chirp will sound indicating all sensor Ids have been learned
6. select the OFF position on the ignition switch to exit the learn mode
