I see that the 2006 XLR offers two free upgrades for the software for the navigation system. I have a 2004 and I need to know where I can buy the most recent upgrade to the system. I just took a long trip in my car, which was great, but the info on the DVD was woefully out of date in a lot of areas.

Thanks for the reply! After I posted I searched thru some other threads on the forum regarding the Nav system and I found mention of a web site that I went to called www.gmnavdisc.com. You put in your car's VIN number, verify your ownership, and you can order updates for your nav system. I ordered one for my car. Price of the disc was $199. I then called them to verify that I had ordered an upgrade and not a replacement. The only way to do it (they said) was to check the part number on my present disc and compare it to the part number on the ordered disc. If they were different, it was an upgrade. I did this and the part number of the one I ordered, matches the part number you just gave me. Also, my present version is 3.0 while yours is 5.0 so I am very optimistic that I have the upgrade. My present disc shows that the info on the maps is from 2002-2003!

Great find. It also states those with 2 free upgrades will receive them after 1 year and then the second after two years of ownership.

Boatman, version 5.0 is a great improvement over version 3.0. I also have a 2004 XLR and I ordered the update from my Cadillac dealer. I really enjoy the newer version because I travel a lot with my XLR. Your price of $199 is excellent. If I had known, I could have saved a lot of money. The dealer charged me twice what you will be paying. Henry (Professor)

Are the different versions different part numbers. The web site says the newest disc is part number 15798916 would this denote the latest version as well? Or are all the disc's for our car that number and the version ie 5 changes?

That's correct Bill, did you see the information in #1 on this post?
BTW, I have heard nothing from K&N, so it looks like the ball is in your court.

SOAPBOX ISSUE!!!

GM should give the 2 free updates to ALL XLR owners!!!

They need to understand that they should quit trying to squeeze a few dollars out of XLR owners their flagship car and go the complete customer satisfaction route instead.

That way MAYBE we'll buy new cars from them when the time comes!!!

Nav Disc Upgrade

I just talked to GM NavDisc and they have a new upgrade that just came out for the XLR. I just bought an upgrade in May but they say that this one is newer than that. Guess I have to spend another $199. I tried to get a break since I just bought mine but they wouldn't move any. Oh well.

On the front page half way down. There's one for cars for sale and one for parts. I haven't heard from Bill (upstate) in a ***** age.

I spoke with the NAV disc center today. They do not send out any notification to the owners of 2006 or 2007 XLRs who get the first 2 upgrades for free. I was told that I could get the upgrade anytime I wanted, just contact them for it. All I had to do was give them the VIN of my car and they verified it and mailed out the upgraded disc.

I'm going to wait until I can't stand being directed down a dirt road from the freeway............then I'll get a new one.

2007 Version 6.0 Navigation Disc

You are correct on the part number of #15923893 it is the Version 6.0

for 2006 and newer owners, To get your subscription disc update, you will receive a postcard mailing shortly before the one-year and two-year anniversaries of the purchase date of your qualifying vehicle purchase or lease. Both disc updates come to you completely free of charge as part of the value of owning a GM vehicle. You will need to call them or contact them by going to www.gmnavdisc.com or calling 1-877-NAV-DISC (1-877-628-3472).

Just wondering why the free upgrade doesn't apply to '04 and '05 owners. Seems they are more in need than later cars. Sometimes I just don't understand GM's policies. are they trying to tick me off enough so I'll never buy another XLR?
Please explain, if you have insight to GM's thinking.

2007 Version 6.0 Navigation Disc
Ed,
For the 2006 model year all Cadillac vehicles that come with a Nav system will receive two free upgrades, not just the XLR. Remember nav systems go back well before the XLR had it. You have to start somewhere.

Look at it this way, prior to this program, a yearly update was about 500.00 each, now its only 198.00. But for my clients it's FREE. I am in the process of sending my clients the version 6.0 for their 2004 & 2005 XLRs

Thank you
