I had the opportunity to drive one of the $600,000 hand-made prototype XLRs last February for one of those marketing surveys. I walked away with the opinion that the car felt heavy compared to the SL, Jag and Lexus that I also drove. Interestingly, the car is actually lighted than the SL, I'm told. It handled well but did not accelerate quite as smoothly as the SL.
The thing I liked least about the car is the metal in the center dash area. It would have looked so much better if they had used wood there instead. I hope they come out with a wood replacement for it. Unfortunately, since I'll be getting a Neiman Marcus edition, I'd be afraid it might lower the value. Any thoughts on that?
Otherwise, it was quite a car.
