The SL in reguards to MB use to stand for Superlight (or so I am told). Anyway, going by MB specs that is no longer accurate. The cars have become very heavy. A MB-SL600 or AMG version is most likely to weigh 1000 to 1500 pounds MORE than a SLR-V series assuming Cadillac uses the same engineering as Chevy did on the Z06. It would only make sense that they would considering all the time Chevy spent developing it. No sense re-inventing the wheel. I also saw a feature on Speed channel that said for subtracting every 100LBS of weight is equal to adding 15 horsepower. I don't know if that is true, but it makes sense.
Why is it all about horsepower? I get it, its the talk. Oh well. I happen to go for style and beauty. The XLR-V looks sharper than a tac. I have test driven the SL and it was pleasing, but the XLR beats it hands down when looking at handling and ride. Trust me, I know first hand. MB is nice when saying I have had, but the XLR says "New Money" all over it!
