I need some help here before I finalize my color scheme for my 06-V. I'm trying to visualize what platinum & shale would look like..............I don't think the two colors will go together very well, and it may not be available in that combination.

What do you people think?

I already have an 04 platinum & ebony and feel the interior is a little drab.
Thanks

Hallo Kamerad :)

Bob, for me light platinum with shale looks good. As I know you don`t like black exterior, I don`t like black interior :nono because you see every footprint on the floormats even if you just cleaned them.

I saw any color of the XLR`s when I was in aug 03 at the plant in Bowling Green Ky. Thats where I drove the first XLR even before dealers had them. The first one I drove was crimson pearl/shale.

That time I felt in love with Thunder Gray - the color I drive now. I know it`s not your color, but anyhow it`s not available anymore.

Hey Bob, don`t you have a GRILFRIEND :glol , if yes ask her, if no ask me ;)

If I buy an XLR V - my color is Raven/shale
The color I would take if I was you - Ultra Red/shale - I like this color and I think it`s not differs so much to the Crimson you ordered.

Ha Ha - it`s your turn old friend :rolleyes

I have an '05 Satin Nickel with the shale interior. I was somewhat flexible in the exterior color, but I definitely DID NOT WANT the ebony interior . . . I think you lose the details when you have a dark interior color. Given the color options available in the '05s, I'm very happy with my color choices.

For the life of me, I just can't understand why they discontinued the Thunder Grey color . . . I thought that color was just gorgeous!!!

Allyn,

Do you have a pic of your satin nickel? If you have them on your computer, you can just go down to additional options below this writting area and choose the pic and it will go in your thread back to me.

Click on the thumbnail in my return post.

I'll see if I can attach the photo that was taken of me when I test drove an '04 (satin nickel w/shale interior) about a year ago. Please ignore the cheesy grin . . . happens to me whenever I drive my XLR!

I'll try to take some better photos of my '05 over the weekend. Weather here in the Washington DC area has been rainy and overcast for about the past six weeks . . . ever since I bought my XLR!!!

Hi Allyn,
yeep, if love my Thunder Gray XLR and the same as you I don`t like ebony interior
in any car.
Well, I heard that they will add a darker gray color for 06 - maybe some between Th-gray and moonstone, we`ll see.

Your color combination looks real good :thumbs

Appreciate the picture Allyn, but it won't expand so it's a bit difficult to see the interior. I wonder why that thumb won't expand to a larger picture. Isn't it funny how that grin goes on automatically the minute you get in?

I think I've convinced myself along with others that shale is the best color. It looks so rich.

Platinum-shale

I prefer black interiors; they tend to look sporty. I have the Platinum-Black combo on my CTS. BUT, for some reason, I have to say that the black interior on the XLR look terrible. Can't figure why. The shale is OUTSTANDING and, looks great with the platimum. Have seen many..go for it!

That color combination is available, we sold two of them in that combo, and had a Satin Nickel with shale that we traded to get a black one. The color combo is a little bland to my personal taste, but the colors do not clash. Both cars got a lot of positive feedback from those who saw them, and we had dealers from six states away trying to trade for the combo you want, so I would imagine that it is somewhat rare to find.

New color chart from Cadillac

Sorry guys and gals. I scanned the 2006 chart with all colors but it was to big, so I isolated 80U infrared, but it just is not coming out like I wanted. I did however learn about the 2 colors that I previously posted. One from the car show is bogus, maybe because of the lighting and IS NOT that garish red, but the one from, I believe, 1 LXR is the real color. it's sort of a cherry red with lots of flake, but I didn't see any more flake in the infrared than the other colors on the sheet. Again I apologize for not having the know how to capture that cherry red so you could see it. Maybe it will show better if I add it in this post. If anyone has any clues as to how to capture the real color off the chart, please let me know. I have to get the chart back to Allen Cadillac by tomorrow or I have to put up my next born for collateral.
I have definitely made up my mind. My choice is infrared with the beige interior.
After viewing this post I realize the color didn't come out very well............sorry

You are right Bob, this color comes out real bad!!!

I know the Infrared is a lot lighter and m a y b e if I buy a V I´ll might take this color too.

Bob, I think you see some in Bowling Green when you there.

Here in germany the press says that the V will be here in the second half of the year, that means you should get yours by, I would say oct-dec.

Maybe I´m wrong, but I still think so!!!!!

Hans

Have a nice weekand Bob!!!!!

What's it like to run the autobaun at 175 with the top down. I would be surpised if you do that. The wind would suck you out the seat belt
I would like to see a manufacturer make those head rest cones that that taper down to the trunk top that you could slip on before the top closes completely. Kinda like the Z has or is it the Lexus? I bet it would look cool.
top down and doin it.
Bob.............Tell the misses to have a nice Mother's Day

Colors are subjective, but food for thought.

Hi Standby and everyone:

I have a platinum silver with ebony interior and love it. The only downside is when I park in the sun with the top down for over 15 minutes, even the A/C seats won't cool your bottom and back, fast enough. Now, I put the top up whenever I'm parked for more than 5 minutes.

Had Cadillac been smart, they would have considered a red leather option for the platinum silver and nickle colors. I did my Z-Car in that combo and it looks terrific.

The new infra-red color looks great. Don't like the name, but the color reminds me of the wine red paint jobs that Jimmy Summers did for hot rods in the late 40's & 50's. Starting with white primer, followed by several coats of wine red lacquer,
followed by 15 or more coats of clear lacquer, each coat polished before the next coat was applied. The result was awesome. Like looking into a pool of wine.

Cadillac would do well to listen to our opinions, posted on this site.
(Allen Kubersh, pay attention:) maybe you can link us into GM HQ.

They are not putting, (in my mind), a good paint job on the XLR's, regardless of color. I realize it's paint to plastic, but there is still too much "orange peel". They've been painting Corvettes for years, so why can't they do it for the XLR's?

Happy Weekend Everybody.

WOW, that was a suprise about the orange peel. I've been over my platinum many times with a fine velvet towel and my paint in flawless, except for the scrap just put on the right front bumper about 2 inches from the bottom by a valet. I've already been to the paint shop the valet company sent me to and feel very confident that they can blend it without painting the whole bumper. Fingers crossed here!
One of these days I'm going to learn to park it myself and the hell with all that fan fair at the front door of 21 Oceanfront, or Villa Nova in Newport Beach. The later being the one that hit a curb. Also a slight scuff on the edge of the rim, but I can deal with that.
I would hope they monitor this sight to and if they do, GET US SOME RACIE COLORS, POP UP WIND SCREENS, TWO TONE INTERIORS.
I also forget to push and hold the TC buttion down for 7 seconds everytime I start the car and hate the control the car has over my driving ability. I did a half donut and the engine quit and steering sucked. Quite frankly I can handle my own donuts or half donuts without Cadillac driving my car for me. My brain tells me when to get out of it and take my foot off the gas and steer it in the right direction.
Makes me want to puke
