I've been using this XLR nav system for sometime. I have noticed that in some areas; POI's, address's, phone numbers, the actual road data is missing or incorrect. I want to create a thread that lists all of these map items. After reading the manual it states that road data can be incorrect, ok, then how is it fixed? Anyways I would like to have members post any items that they have found incorrect with the map data. There is some key info that should be included.

1. Map DVD part number or Version Number.
2. Location, City, State, cross streets or address's.
3. Any other detail.

Item #1
Version 3.0/25767790
14230 S 87th Ave, Orland park, IL, is not on the map, the road segment is missing.

Item #2
Version 3.0/25767790
I-94 East in Kalamazoo, MI, the Rest stop no longer exist before 131.

Who makes the Map database - Navtech? You might want to talk with them as I believe Cadillac will plead ignorance about this. My XLR is to be picked up on Tuesday so I can't just walk out to the garage to check.

My experience with GPS is that the databases are updated about once per year. It will be nice when this technology advances to use the internet to deliver map data. Then corrections like this can be made real time.

Navtech

If it is Navtech, I had some issues with them on my 2000 Lincoln Navigator system and found out they are in Western VA.

I spoke with a tech guy on the phone once and we worked on the issue with the system at that time.

I do remember they had a website, where you could submit errors found, like you have mentioned.

Is Navtech the maker of the XLR databse? Cadillac is not listed on their website

After taking a short road trip this weekend, I also found numerous map mistakes. The system would indicate a turn was necessary where there was no turn to make. The map wanted me to go down a one-way street -- the wrong way in a medium-size town.I wish there was a formulized way to submit these mistakes to the mfgr. My DVD disk says (C) Denso 2004.

Missing or incorrect Nav Data

I think Magnet has an Idea, if we put the information here it is very possible the actual mfg. of the system (Denzo) will be able to retrieve the data in a single string.

Most of you know me as a straight forward type of guy, so I would strongly recommend that if you have the area/road in question, along with the city & state. Please dont forget to write in your version of the Nav disc and the corresponding part number.

Lets see if we can compile a good list of areas (be as specific as possible)

Thank you

Denzo

Does Denzo have a website?

Navteq has a nice website entry system to identify errors and missing info.

From my experience on several systems over several years (including Garmin), bigger cities are mapped better than smaller or rural areas. It also seems to take "years" to get a change into the disc. New roads or roads now blocked off (or changed to one-way) may not get into a discs for 2-3 years.

I am sure that with all the Cadillacs using the system (and other GM probably), if they had a website, they would collect 100's of more inputs than from posting in a chat room.

Just my thoughts.

Apparently they didn't drive toward downtown Los Angeles from the East. I don't remember the exact transition, but will drive it again next month. The Nav voice said bear right to the correct freeway but bearing left was the correct path. I'll check it out around Xmas on my way back from Huntington Beach.

I am finding more and more issues with the accuracy of this navigation system. Yesterday I programmed in a street address on a very busy thoroughfare and it directed me to the wrong side of the street approximately 1 block from the actual location. That is a very definite no-no. I wish Cadillac would provide users with some type of link into the disk manufacturer so we could report these errors. As was reported previously on this forum, Navigation Technologies offers a very convenient link to do just that.
