Cadillac was huge sponsor for Super Bowl. Peyton Manning was MVP and Jim Nantz told him he won the red XLR that was there. You would have thought they could have sprung for a V.

Maybe they didn't want Manning to take the depreciation hit.

Brilliant, isn't it?

There it was, GM/Cadillac's entire advertising campaign for the XLR, for the year.:(

Well, maybe there will be 1 advertisement somewhere that says "under 5" lumping the V in with other cars, as if buyers give a hoot about "under 5".

None of the cutting edge, huge amounts of features.

None of the huge amounts of benefits.

No price comparison to the Jag or the Merc--hey the XLR is a BARGAIN.

No testimonials--every owner on this site could sell this car better than GM.

I guess they like to build an amazing vehicle and then KEEP IT A SECRET!:banghead

If you tell people, you might sell a lot of them, oh, wait, isn't that the goal?:yesnod

I'm not positive BUT I think they got that car from here in Jacksonville. Not that it makes any difference. I was at the dealership talking to my salesman when he showed my the one the just got in and put on the floor. He said somebody was on their way to get it. I didn't think anythiing of it at the time BUT......

He says the red has metallic in it and looks very different in the sun. Also I liked the stock wheels and grill in chrome. Hummmm.....

manning just may donate it since he's a family guy.

Did you ever think that GM doesn't care how many XLR's they sell? I can't tell you the people that stop me and want to know what kind of car it is and when did they come out with it. Given it's been out for three years, I would say that's a BIG problem with advertising. Some of these people are Cadillac owners and wish they had seen it before they bought the model they bought.
There was a time that you hardly saw advertising for the Corvette, but I will say I see it in commercials a lot more these days

I remember in 2003 when the XLR's were on their way out and the GM Chairman said he wasn't bringing the car out to directly compete with the other high end cars in the market place. He was just interested in showing what GM/Cadillac technology and craftmanship was capible of accomplishing.

So for us owners there will be fewer out there to clog the roads.

As Caly will/may attest there are maybe 12 or so here in Jacksonville. One happens to belong to John Maddens brother (silver).

So when we are driving around our XLR's are truly a rare event as opposed to the TONS of 500SL's and 600SL's, Lexus and Jaguars on the road.

The most compliments I receive are from the owners of these cars.

Let's just enjoy what we have.
