I was wondering how many, if any use their XLR as a DD? I would think most people buy they as a luxury to play with. I know unless my dad finds something a lot better he plans on keeping his and some day it will be mine. With the limited number made it should be a good collectors car.

We tend to "baby" our XLR - it only goes out if the weather is great which might explain why an '05 only has 5,000 miles on it! And when it's not being driven, it lives in a very nice garage. The fact of the matter is we probably spend more time cleaning it than we do driving it. Yeah, we know there's something wrong with that picture.

We do love our XLR and hugely enjoy it, but Ed keeps mentioning maybe when we get a little free time we ought to give a bit more consideration to an XLR V.

Best regards,
Ed and Sandra

i had a 04 and it got caught in the rain, i now have a 07. got it in nov it now has 400 miles. would that be considered a toy?
Ours got caught in the rain once recently - don't you just hate that (and all the fumbling around trying to remember how to operate the windshield wipers)?! :glol :glol

You've got us beat by a long shot on the low mileage!

Actually, they do have wipers, but if you search back to when we first reported the "rain incident" you'll note we observed they weren't absolutely essential. It truly was amazing how the water flowed off the windshield without the assistance of the wipers. :lol :lol

My '04 is a DD but still pampered. I bought it in December and have put about 6K miles on it so far. I have a classic Maserati that shares the Caddys miles every other Friday if it's not bad weather. The XLR has been problem free and very enjoyable to drive.:cheers

Daily Driver for sure!

I would say I qualify as a daily driver! Come to Bowling Green this August for Rendezvous II and see an XLR with over 150,000 miles on it. No dents, everthing works fine, interior slightly worn but still looking good. I live in Florida but my job requires me to drive all over the country. (i.e. tomorrow I'll be in Kentucky, yes with my XLR)
Oh, and yes I intend to give the car to my son for the same reason you want your dad's XLR. Even with the heavy mileage, the car rides great.

Mine is a DD. 54000 miles since Feb. 2004. I'm about to buy my third set of tires. The originals lasted 29000. The second set has only 25000 but need replacement.
Both sets are Michellin. I understand Pirelli no longer makes a comparable tire.Too bad. We seem to be a captive market for run flats.
