I have two key bobs each of them have a "1" stamped on the back.

Is it possible to use one of them as a "2"? Or will the car know it's a "1" and will
override the "1" I use daily. I suppose I could test it myself. . . but if someone knows the answer it would be great! :confused

If both FOBs are marked 1 then you could assume the code inside is the same and they will not opperate independently.

Numbered Remotes

The XLR is designed to use 2 distinctive BVlgari remotes 1 & 2. Thus being said 2 of the same of either will not operate the 2nd driver function. If you have the #1 remote, simply order the #2 remote from your XLR dealer. The part # is 10347464 for a 2004 XLR & 10354923 for 05/07.

Numbered Remotes

If memory doesnt totally escape me, you recently purchase this XLR-V from a dealer in MN? If so, the dealer most likely has the correct remote for your car at their dealership. In either case, you should not have to pay for a new one when they should have given you the correct remote from the begining.

It doesn't matter what number is on the remotes. You just mark them some how to tell them apart. Then just program them as the manual instructs, the car doesnt care what number is on them. You can have two #1's or two #2's or one of each. The computer can't see the number on the fob.

I agree with showoff. Each key fob has a different internal identification. Since both key fobs have already been programmed into the car receiver, one is programmed for driver one, the other is programmed for driver two. You just have to select which one to use for yourself.

I wonder how many combinations there are?

Actually that is what I thought would happen, you would just have to press the #2 button on the seat and the rest is MAGIC!!!

The electronics in the key fob doesn't know what # is molded into the case. It's the fob "guts" that identify it to the car. The molded in number (#1 vs. #2) is so you know which one you have.

If you paint, etch, label etc. the one you want to set up and use, it'll always know "you" no matter what the molded in number is.

My wife took the #1 Fob because she's my "#1"...........of course I'm "#2" to the car.

Jim, #2 Happens! (true, not as funny) I'd probably be #3 if there was such a key fob............which begs a questions, is there such as thing as a #3 key fob.

I'm personally glad there's not; my son will NEVER drive the XLR. KEN

If they have not changed the way the key fob programming, the key fob that is programmed first is assigned to memory location 1 (inside the receiver which locates in the car). The second key fob is assigned to memory location 2.
Driver #1 preference is assigned to memory location 1..etc.

There are times with all the computers and electrics I think about the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" when the martians came and shut off all of our power. Today Like a huge sunspot does to teleacommincations. See I still remember those .20 black and white saturday matinees and Im only 57! I bet the next time some XLR owner goes out to start his car after reading this and the car is dead! He will think the Martians have landed!!!
