You will need two of them.
with the covers off you would loose the forced air and defeat the purpose.standby said:I've gone to the garage and have taken both filters out of the 04 and the V . Part numbers below.
04-------Delco 1208C
06-V----Delco 2945C
The nice surprise is they are interchangeable. I physically took both out and tried each in both cars. Snug as a bug in a rug.
The only difference I could see was the paper filter on the 04 was vertical and the V was horizontal.
The access for air intake in my estimation is poor. I think I might take the covers off both filters on the V and run it just like that. It would definitely get more air. It just wouldn't look to good for show, unless you guys could talk me out of it.
If we had a new intake filter system like the Vette, we could pick up quite a few more pony's, really cheap. Who can we get to make a better intake...........K&N?

Yea Bob you have a knack for getting custom parts made. I would be a player for my 04 XLR if someone could make a custom air intake. Maybe even a neat caddy logo or XLR on it to jazz up the engine compartment.standby said:Yea, Mike, I lost it for a few minutes, I was going to try and secure it another way. I'm going on line with K&N in Riverside and see if they will make a intake much like the Vette. I will even give them my V if they give me mine for free. If i'm not mistaken, 04 through the V are all the same. I did order my filters today. But when I talked to K&N I found out it was a different number for the 06, but I think it is the same based on what I found out in the garage. Would you be interested if I get this done?
Bob
Additional horses ultimately depends on the final product but I've seen numbers around 15-20 Hp. Any gain would be OK for me but what is most important is its under the hood appearance. I'm looking for something that would enhance the appearance of a fairly bland engine compatment.standby said:Bill,
Do you have any idea how many pony's we could pick up?...........I will follow up on this and see if I can talk them into this. I have to look at my two vehicles to see if there is any difference between them. If there isn't, there is a lot of XLR's out there for K&N. Do you by chance no how many have been sold since 04?
On another note, I will be going to non-binding arbitration next month. My lawyer wanted to keep negotiating or go to court in January 07, but given what I probably could make at arbitration and get it over with, that would be the best way to handle this case. If they try to play games, I'll just walk and tell them, "see ya in court".Bob

they made one for a show car at the 2004 SEMA show, and claimed they would "possibly" be in production shortly after....you know how those things work.standby said:Mike,
What made the deal go South? If they made a prototype, why didn't they make it? I'm sending off an e-mail today to see whasup?
Bob
Bob let me know how you do and if need be I can get in touch with them by the end of the week.standby said:Bill,
Just in case K&N dosn''t want to build it maybe you can do it from your end.
