Hi, there,
once a year I have to make a big trip from Kitzingen/Germany to Alicante/Spain.
I could take a plain but I own good cars and like to drive.
For this trip, its one way 2050 km (1281 miles) I drove the other years with my Vette, my DTS and last november for the first time with my XLR.
I started monday nov 8 at 5.30 am arrived 8.12 same day in Torrevieja (30 miles behind Alicante) driving time was 14 hours. My eyes were red but I felt fine!
Tuesday nov 9 I did in the morning hours my business, what I was there for and at around 2 pm I start the way home.
But this time I stayed for one night at a Hotel in Lyon/France, so I made from Torrevieja to Lyon, thats 1200 km ( 750 miles ) start 2 pm arrived in Lyon 10.45 pm driving time was about 8 hours.
Wednesday nov 10 at 9 am I started the last trip fom Lyon to Kitzingen - 850 km
thats ( 530 miles) and I arrived at home 3.12 pm - driving time was about 5.45 hours.
The car was great in all ways and for this alltogether 42oo km (2625 miles) I had an avg fuel consumption of 12.6 liters/100 km thats 20.5mi/gallon. and avg speed of 153 km thats 95 miles.
After this trip my XLR was thirty as never before, the wheels were all black from the brake dust but the next day after cleaning it looked like new again.
Only thing I had to do was add a half quard of oil, but I did this with a big smile!!!
These new generation CADILLACS are great :flag

thanks
Harry

Well done. These autos will go fast and long without trouble. I just had my third oil change qand I have never had to add any oil between changes. I am on my second tour around the states and have yet to see another XLR on the street. the guys must only drive them on sunday. am now in Colorado Springs and the xlr just turned on 27,000 miles, not one problem in ten months.

Hi Budsvet,
27K in ten months thats pretty much, I got on mine about 18K km thats about 11250 miles. On my vacation last summer in florida I saw some day up to three XLR`s. Well, here in germany they are very rare (sold last year about 200).
With the oil consumtion for that kind of trip I did, thats ok for me. You must know I drove the car mostly in the 130-160 kp/h range, thats between 80 and 160 mph.
No problems on mine beside maybe anybody turns his or her`s head when they see an XLR. But thats no problem, mostly I just :)

I could only get mine up 155mph, I think my computer cut it off. I just came up from Key west and it was chilly there. it's as warm here as it was in the keys a couple of weeks ago. I spent about four years in your neck of the woods back in 1972, motorcycled all over.

Budsvet,
the export-model is not speed-limited, in my papers it says top speed 250 but I had it almost to 270 km. Didn`t shut off.

try to send a pic, won`t work!!!!!
Harry, welcome to the forum. I was in Frankfurt June 2004, and may have occasion to make it over sometime in mid March on my way to Milano.

To post photos, make a message just as you have been, then scroll down to "Manage attachments". You should be able to upload photos by browsing to them on you computer. The only catch is that they have to be fairly small, so if you get an uploading error, you'll just need to resize you photo using Windows Photo Editor or your favorite equivalent.

Ihr wirklich,

Flieger (aka Aviator)

PS I really only speak very little Deutsch, and usuall embarrass myself horribly when trying...

BUDSVET - It looks as if you are a fellow aviator. I have a 1975 Cessna 210. I love the photos, dude. Is that you on the john? No offense, amigo, but I'm far more impressed by the XLR on front of the 1960 Piper Comanche. :lol

Hi Bob,
I still think in 27.45 hours of driving 2625 miles isn`t bad.
Especially when you think about that there is no speed limit in germany, but in france and spain.
A good average I made yesterday, was from Kist to Heilbronn thats 100 km (62miles) in 21 minutes. No traffic there, had it the whole way between 160 and 260 km.

Aviator,
your Xenon blue looks good, that was the two I could chose from but I took the Tunder-gray. Vielen Dank to welcome me to the forum :)
Harry
and now I´ll try again for pic!!!!!

I just came through you little village about a 10 days ago on my way here to Colorado Springs. going to fly off the slopes next week then to AZ. and then on to CAL-I Forn Ia until it warms up back in WV. Life is a bitch when you pass 75. Oh by the way they deleted my pic of the drunk sitting on the throne. :flag :) :jester

Dammit Harry,
We know your smarter than camera, now get with it and do this thing before I have to come over to Germany and do it for you.

You need to look at that pop up really careful.
1 It might tell you your picture is to big
2..It might tell you you don't have enough room in your photo album
3..I had a little trouble with the pop up until I started to read everything after I tried to upload.
