From the day I purchased the 05 XLR, I've consistantly been "high-beamed" at night by approaching traffic. In response, I do the "flash" to show them that I'm not blinding them on purpose or by accident.

I know my horizontal aim indicators (bubbles) look OK, but feel that the lights need a little bump downward. I see it's easy to do and I'm soon to go through the procedure as spelled out in the owner's manual (p. 6-43). In fact, I was wondering the first few days after purchase why the included an allen wrench in the console; just the tool needed I guess. :smash

Has anyone had to "re-aim" their lights to reduce the on-coming traffic "flashers"? Is there any word of wisdom as to how much below the horizontal plane that may further reduce the oncoming traffic harassment?

Headlights

Ken, I wouldn't mess with the right or passenger one at all. But on mine, the driver side headlight defiantly has a "notch" in the beam. And is very low on the low beam. But when I hit the high beam, its like flood lights. So the left side or drivers side, really is a lot lower on the low beam than the right side.

From the factory. I had an Eldo for 13 years and I aligned it's headlights a few times. I got pretty good at what I wanted. I would do it in the evening. I would pull up to the garage door and the back up about 20 feet. That gave me an idea of where to point them.

XLR Ken, I have misunderstood you. The Eldo's headlights were aim a particular way. After many years of driving it and replacing the headlights, I just knew where to point them. But referring to the XLR's headlights, the lights on my car, the drivers side has a notch or lower side to it about have way across then back up to match the right side. Our Lexus is the same. But I have not read the owners manual. Sorry

The tool that came with the car is for manually unlatching the top so the top can be operated manually.the torx end takes out the screws of the storage compartment between the seats to gain access to the latch so the top can be raised.

Thanks. Mystery solved. :thumbs

For some reason, I never saw that in the manual. This type of "detail" would be a nice thing to be told at the time of purchase. Maybe Cadillac could add this detail to the checklist of transfer.
