Took delivery of # 9 of 101 on Saturday, September 13 -- the day before we left on a two week cruise/vacation. After waiting nearly ten months for the greatest car I have ever seen, it had to sit in my garage for two weeks. Had no time to drive it any further than home from the dealer's. Also didn/t have time to post the news here.
The dealer left a message on my answering machine while I was gone that mine was the first to be delivered to an owner in the U.S. In any event it is AWESOME!

Congratulations!

If you get a chance could you post some more details? Driving experiences, fit 'n' finish and things you would change are very much appreciated. Of course, photos would be great, too!

And for the Beatle fans...Number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine...

leg and head room

Congrats on the car. Hope your luvin it.

How is the leg room and head room? Can you stretch out or is it generally a tight fit. I am on a waiting list, but am nervous about fitting in the car properly, I havent been able to see one to get a feel for it.

Thanks,

Dewey

User Report

Have now had a chance to drive my # 9 XLR some. It is great.
In response to a question, there is plenty of leg room -- all you havet to do is adjust the seat back. Takes a while to learn about all the gizmos and gadgets -- haven't mastered them all yet. The drive and ride are great--tight and responsive. Have not tried the acceleration yet since it is so new. However it seems to have LOTS! Like the way the smart cruise control works, it almost seems eerie when it spots a car ahead and then begins to slow down and keep pace with it regardless of my speed setting. Could do with another storage spos for my cell phone. I know, it does have personal calling, but I still carry a cell phone for when I'm away from the car. The glove box could be improved along the lines of the one in the DTS (add a shelf) so things are not all on top of each other.
All of the above are nits, it is a great car and Cadillac engineers should be congratulated. The Lexus and Benz have some REAL competition now and have some catching up to do.

Picture of No 009 on 9/13/03 Delivery

Here is a shot of our Number 9 on delivery day -- right before we took it home to put in the garage for two weeks while we were on a cruise/vacation. Couldn't wait to get back to put some miles on it. Love it!

The Good.

Black on Black. Looks great, Rides Fantastic, Lots of Triky stuff, But well get there, Neat top mecanics, Seating is great, Sound system is perfect and fairly simple, HUD display Just great. The ride is Between My ZR1 Vet and My Lincoln Mark VIII Collectors Edition. Verry Comfy.

The best thing i like is the Body Style. Like no other on the road. I am the first to get One on the road in this area, Lots of questions to Answer. Has 24 miles on it now. Will put some extras this weekend. It also looks better in person then Pictures.

The BAD

Congratulations.

my dealer has finally received the first 2 xlr's that they have ordered. Both of them Red. Mine was "supposedly" on the truck with them but in a continuation of bad info, wasn't.

Now supposedly, it's on the way and should be here within either tomorrow or Monday.

Oh well, C'est la vie.:(

ABSOLUTE STUPIDITY AND LACK OF CARING

Well, after spending the last 1 1/2 hour on the phone between Cadillac, the Cadillac personal Assistant and the dealership, I have a story that is one of the most ludicrous ones that I have ever heard. To precis it down:

1. My original car which was completed on 6/29/03 was pulled from the line by GM and used as a test vehicle.

2. The car that I am receiving was then completeed on 9/11/03 (some date, huh?)

3. The carrier that had my car on it scheduled to arrive last week had one of the vehicles on it that had "a problem" that they had discovered so therefore they had to hold the carrier with all of the vehicles on it until the one that had a problem was ready to go.

4. Even though the dealer received a call y'day from someone at Cadillac that my car has been shipped, it hasn't been.

Do you now understand why I'm as "teed off" as I am? :smash
