Gm wind screen

There are many previous posts on this topic, which several are offering their GM screen for sale. They have replaced them with the windrestrictor, which is what I bought. Be cool and get a windrestrictor with the Cadillac emblem that lights when you brake. Get red only, because some people have been getting tickets for other color lights. Some buy the feature that keeps changing color, which the police do not tolerate.

Windblox - recent feedback

I did recently purchase the Windblox version of the various designs that are out there. I like the Windrestrictor design too, especially with the lighted option, but it came down to two things - price (bang for the buck) and remove-ability (when the top is up, it can be distracting). I did have the "Cadillac" engraved in the center.

After I received my Windblox, I was not happy with the fitment of the strap holes, nor the fact that it did not even go as high as the roll bar when installed. I returned the unit, with markups on the blue protective film, to help Tim (the owner) get a revised design. He is currently in the process of reprogramming his design to try and accommodate my comments and I hope to have the next generation delivered in the next week or so. If successful, the strap locations will be in the right place and the height will be at least as tall as the roll bar (I recommended 1" higher).

Hope this helps...

So was the design ever updated??????

I, too, have a WindBlox Wind screen and also had to contact them about the holes and the straps. They eventually replaced all my straps, but I agree with you the holes could have been better located.

Windblox - never did work out

Gizmo - I tried two additional iterations, where I would send marked up patterns to Tim for a reprogramming. I am an engineer and tried to help the best I could with the manufacturing as well as the tolerances that may be involved with the various XLR tops.

He was slow to respond with each iteration - I think this is his side business - and, after 3 months of trying - I finally cancelled my order and had Visa refund my money. I ran out of patience and lack of responses.

I still favor the removable option to avoid the glare issue (putting it in the storage sleeve he sells and keeping it in the trunk). I also have tinted windows, so the lighted version would hardly be seen with the top up.

He still has my latest mark-ups, which should improve the design - I don't know - he never responded after I threatened to cancel the order. If he did finish the reprograming to my mark-ups, it should be a good design, with the removal option.

I gave in to my wife's demands to get "something" to stop the wind from messing up her hair - they are the biggest reason these guys are in business! I recently ordered the Windrestrictor, with the lighted etching - paid the higher price. I plan to install it with an option to remove easily, including the electrical connections - even if I have to design some custom mounting gear. I also plan to add a tilt to the install, to avoid the glare problems reported (in case it is still installed at night, with the top up).

If you come to the board without your user name, you will see another alternate company at the top of the active topic screen. They claim to have the lighted option and engraving also, and include a factory designed tilt to minimize the glare, along with a lower price than Windrestrictor. They may be a newcomer - I don't know.

I don't mean to badmouth Tim at Windblox, but I was disappointed with the customer service to fix the problem (which may be fixed).

Hope this helps!

There is a serious reflection problem, when you look over your shoulder on the windrestrictor, so you learn to only use your mirrors, which do a good job and you do not have to ever turn your head. One of the reasons you buy this car is to be cool and having a lighted windrestrictor is the coolest. With the others you might as well put up a piece of cardboard and save the money.
