When I stopped today to check in at my hotel "on the way to the BG RSII" I left my wife in the car and the motor idling. When I got back in the car Helen said that she had heard a "bing" noise.
I looked down and my display said to check gas cap. I did and found it to be tight. I hit the reset button and it went away. I have not driven the car very far since.
The outside temp. was 110 on my nav. display. So I am in my room with the BIG AC going full speed.
Anyone seen this one??

gas cap

After it cooled down a little "94" tonight I went out and fueled up for the last leg tomorrow into BG and it did NOT give me a warning in the display but I only drove it about 20 min.
So I will see what it does on the way to BG.

Bruce what do you think it is?
Should I try and get one in BG?
I know you said to get it replaced when I get home but if it did not set a code or is not giving me the display error will they still replace it?
Should they?

Sorry I forgot to post an update.

We drove to BG behind "Standby and Hans" from W. Memphis and I think they scared it to death because it never came back on.. LOL

Bruce told me to have it replaced and I talked to some people at the dinner about it and they said to have it replaced soooooooooooo.

I called Martin Cadillac and they had a gas cap in stock so when we were there looking at the Evoq I had them replace.
I have not had the display come up again.

cap

I was out last night with Leinda cruzing and stopped for ice cream. Thats when I saw it for the first time. I'd clear it or reset it and about fifteen minutes later it would pop up again. I must of cleared it 5 times. On our way home a "corvette" pulled up alone side of us. I had never seen one like it. It had a50's style front end and rear. I thought it was 2008 vette. I said Wow look at that. and the lady in the "vette" said wow look at yours! She said she loved it. I looked around on some of the vette sites last night and found one like it. It must be some sort of kit car on a corvette body.

vette and gas cap

Galen, 1st the vette. That is a custom body fit to your existing c-4,5,6 body so it appears old with all the modern touches. Im 35 mi from Carlisle and this is the vette week so there everywhere all types and mods! Next! I put gas in the xlr the other day and did not shut off the engine so the ck gas cap and engine light came on. The gas cap went away but not the ck engine light. A tech told me on line that after 25 starts the light should go off but never has. I am so used to that in all my cars i never give it and thought anymore. Im about ready to invest over a grand and but a snap on tool to read these dam cars and do the ck out work myself! How did you clear your codes? jim
