Hello Everybody,
Three weeks ago, I posted a thread addressing my experience with the dealer in Dubai regarding a fuel leaking from the tank. Finally, they changed me the whole fuel tank and the hose connection. They wouldn't agree to repair it under warranty, since the car is a 2004 model. So, I had to pay around $1850 to get the job done. Note: the car has only 800 km on it and i bought it last June. Everything is now ok and i didn't want to argue with them about money. I just wanted to have my car repaired. this is not an issue to discuss. The real problem here is when i went to get my car from there, the service supervisor showed me 6 XLR's, yes SIX XLR's having the same problem (fuel leaking that could have caused the car to explode). At that point, I realized that all what they are doing there it is not necessary(changing the fuel tanks). It is not logical to have 6 cars of the same model having the exact same problem. If so, then I think the dealer here in Dubai should have sent reports to the GM headquarters in the U.S. to issue a recall. In my opinion, those cars have minor problems and do not need to have the fuel tanks changed. For instance, the DIC screen of my car was showing "Check Gas Cap" I believe that if they changed the gas cap there would not be any problem and everything would have been ok.
