Hello Everybody,

Three weeks ago, I posted a thread addressing my experience with the dealer in Dubai regarding a fuel leaking from the tank. Finally, they changed me the whole fuel tank and the hose connection. They wouldn't agree to repair it under warranty, since the car is a 2004 model. So, I had to pay around $1850 to get the job done. Note: the car has only 800 km on it and i bought it last June. Everything is now ok and i didn't want to argue with them about money. I just wanted to have my car repaired. this is not an issue to discuss. The real problem here is when i went to get my car from there, the service supervisor showed me 6 XLR's, yes SIX XLR's having the same problem (fuel leaking that could have caused the car to explode). At that point, I realized that all what they are doing there it is not necessary(changing the fuel tanks). It is not logical to have 6 cars of the same model having the exact same problem. If so, then I think the dealer here in Dubai should have sent reports to the GM headquarters in the U.S. to issue a recall. In my opinion, those cars have minor problems and do not need to have the fuel tanks changed. For instance, the DIC screen of my car was showing "Check Gas Cap" I believe that if they changed the gas cap there would not be any problem and everything would have been ok.
What do you think people?

The Gas Cap replacement sounds to be the more appropriate action. One of the Bowling Green (BG) Rendezvous II attendees (motorboat) had his gas cap changed while at the BG Cadillac dealership based on the same "Check Gas Cap" messaged. It would be much less than the $1,850 charge they made.

Also, there has been a lot of talk about "XLR Certification" on other threads........are they certified in Dubai?

3rd WORLD :crazy just because they have some big buildings and inside skiing does not mean they are not
Well, it is barely the third world. I had a mercedes clk 500.. the car was absolutely beautiful and the dealer here was very professional. I had a similar problem with my mercedes (oil leaking), and since it was a manufacturing defect, the dealer fixed it under the warranty eventhough the warranty was expired. I believe that GM headquarters in the U.S. should really take some responsibilities and be blamed for authorising a bunch of un-qualified indian and filipino mechanics (sorry for racism, just if u come over here u will understand what i mean) to represent their dealers abroad.

Well, if you come here to Dubai, u will understand my point. I am not a racist, i respect all nationalities and all religions. Just what bothers me about indians and filipinos is, they pretend that they know everything about cars and they hold no responsibility for their actions. For example, I sent my car to them to have the headlights changed and when i got back home, I noticed a small scratch on the bumper right under the left headlight. Moreover, when I first bought my car, they drilled the license plates directly into the front bumper instead of installing a frame that holds the plates. Got my point??

We understand your point. You're a racist. A couple of other posters have tried to say it politely. You don't get it.

My airplane mechanic is an Indian. My doctor is a Filipino. I've trusted them with my life for the last 20 yrs.
Get a life. Go away. Maybe you can find a "Dumb Racial Generalizations" forum to post on.
