Most cars today have an electric thermostatically-controlled radiator fan. If the car was recently shut down it is very possible the fan will turn on shortly thereafter. It should not turn on if the car has been sitting for any length of time.

I have the opposite problem, I seldom hear the fan blower come on and believe me - down here in Nawlins it gits mighty hot! Of course having a Raven 04 doesn't help but I'll never have a different color.
I can't find anything in the manual about the fan blower, when it's supposed to come on, etc.
Can anyone help me out - Hans? Mr XLR?

I probably should have been more clearer on which fan.
It is actually the interior blower motor.
I can feel air coming out of the A/C vent.
It has happened in the garage.
It has happened numerous times while it is outdoors.
Here in the south it gets real hot but if no one else has it happening then it is strange.

The car is in the shop right now for my problem with the car shuting down while you are driving it.
So far they have done this to correct it:
Actually very first time it happened and they scanned it they weren't able to read the codes they were all jimberish/scrambled
1)Replace rear ground strap
2)Replace Throttle Body, due to the TPS inside it being bad??
3) Now ECM

The car even scared the crap out of the mechanic cuz it shutdown on him 8 times while driving in traffic.

Symptoms:
Starts to shake and shimmy real bad, then readin comes up
"Engine Powering Down" NO power then the "Service traction control" comes up.

Scares the Living Daylights out of you, and the cars behind you locking up the brakes and swerving to miss hitting you.:eek

We bought it used and it only has 16K on it. Here in Florida the lemon law only covers New cars:banghead
Otherwise we would initiate a BuyBack
It is a Certified GM so we have the 100K warranty, but we are looking for another one, which there aren't a whole heck of a lot of in town

Hi Floyd
Pat is our mechanic over at Coastal he has been for about 10 years.

They've always been great. Frank is our service guy, but with this problem Nick and the General Mgr. have been dealing with this along with Cadillac.

Do you have the ruby red xlr here??

No, 2 years ago I leased a black '06 XLR. Couple of weeks ago bought a black '06 "v". I think I've seen the ruby red parked in the Publix lot, behind Hess, on County Line Rd., no idea who she belongs to though.

Jeff is my service writer, nice guy, let's me come in whenever. . .

Why are you not using Rich? I thought he was the only XLR certified mech. there--could be wrong though. Although this problem you're having would probably have been escalated anyway.

We should meet to make the trek up to o cool on the way to the rally, no?

Had something similiar to this happen. they found the fuel module was sucking air and would shut everything down instantly, luckily I was parked when this happened and it wouldn't start. The module is over top of the gas tank and is a bit-ch to get to. They had to drop the gas tank to get to it. I just love these engineers.
