That guy that gave the "V" the very critical review did make one valid point, IMHO. That is the sound of the exhaust, I happen to agree with him, kinda reminds me of an old Buick Dynaflow taking off--not a very delicious sound!

I've read here about the different exhausts (mufflers) but I can't seem to get a feel for the various sounds. Because of the breed of this great car one has to tread lightly when it comes to the tunes it plays running around town. We certainly don't need the Harley sound, but it should emanate a beautiful although authoritative tune--know what I mean?

So, has anyone found "THE" tune this wonderful car should play??

No, but I've read here how to connect a switch--maybe I'll try it. It does sound better when you jump on it!

Thanks,
Floyd
Floyd, just ask Bob (stanby on this forum) he just put a switch in the center console to have stock baffles or full time buffles. It is very easy to install!

I have many posts in here with pics that show where everything is. If you want to just see how the baffles sound open in an idle, open the trunk, pull the carpet back in left corner and remove lid. there is a module in the right corner closest to you with a plug-in adapter. Just cut the red wire while the car is running and you will instantly see what it sonds like, if you want to install a switch, let me know, I'll assist. NO, you won't get shocked.
If you don't like it, which I doubt, twist the wires together and put a wire not on it.

Bob ... Ray wants to know if that works for Lola (04) stock, or does that only work with the modified exhaust systems like your Corsa? Oh-oh, I think Lola is getting ready to rumble!

If you haven't cut it yet, just pull the plug on the module and you will get the same effect. Sorry, I forgot about that one. Actually you can leave it unplugged if you like the sound all the time. I like to shut it off on the Interstates.

Thanks, Bob, I will check out your posts here and then I will go to the garage and do a little cutting!

Bob, I did read where that can be done and I did try that first. . . I think I'll go with the switch as I don't think I could handle that much of a difference continuously. It did sound pretty cool tho!!!

Thanks!

Floyd,
Do you want pics of the rocker switch in the console? That small piece of black plastic in the rear of the console pops out for drilling purposes but you have to be careful that the back side of the rocker doesn't hit anything else under it when you snap it back into place.

Bob, While checking around I saw the shots you took of your installation. I will follow them, seems pretty straight forward. Although in life I've, unfortunately, found virtually nothing to be easy!

the best way to do this is with a remote unit called "mild to wild" ($75.00)
this plugs into the module in the trunk and uses your home link button in the visor....no need to cut/ run wires or install switches. There is much info in the forum about this as well.

Try this:

I wanted my car to sound better also, but..... I didn't want to cut any wires, run wires to inside the car, cut anything for a switch, and I didn't want the remote control (doesn't that send error codes to the computer that the valves aren't working?) or take out the fuse, (same for error codes?) then the valves would be wide open all the time. So what I did, just today as a matter of fact. I went out and bought two 1/4 inch split collar shaft stops, and put them on the shafts to the vacuum butterfly valves holding the vaves open only a little bit. Acually you can adjust it to as much open as you want them to be. And boy!!!!! Just a little bit open makes a diffrerence! Cost me a whole $11 dollars for the two collars. I got some pictures pending on the Corvette forum. When I get the OK I can post them if anyone wants to see the pictures.

Let's see if I can get the pictures loaded!?!?

Hopefully that the picture of the collar. I got 1 screw out and one of the halves is turned.

Again,,, hopefully the picture made it! This is the locking collar on the vacuum valve shaft.

And yes I did come up with the idea. I'm rather proud of my self. I was trying to shorten the stroke of the vacuum valve shaft to keep the butterflies open.

I am all thumbs but pulled the white plug described in this post! Wow, what a difference in idle tone; from Pee Wee Herman to Wolfman Jack sound! I do hear a little backfire talkback when revving it up though.

Might have to try to run a wire to the console now.

1) Attach one of the two wires to the red wire on the white module with lamp or maybe speaker wire?
2) Tape off the unused second bare wire?
3) Run wire under carpet to console; but where do you break thru the trunk to get to cabin?
2) Buy a 'Shack rocker switch...then attach each of the two wires to the two switch posts and mount the switch? Or is just a single wire needed for the whole job?

All the above sound right?

Yes I do know how to screw in a light bulb without help!

Will the car be throwing any crazy codes?
Any long term negative effects to leaving the baffles open most of the time?

Exhaust Sound

For what it's worth I just installed the Corsa exhaust on my 05 and the sound is terrific. problem is my gas mileage has gone all to hell because I can't help stomping on it just to hear the sound. I guess the best feature is that it does not drive you crazy on the highway yet sound awesome when you honk on it
