Hi Brad, I´m German and drive the XLR but there is no way to compare it with a Boxster. If you want something to compare with a Viper, a XLR V or Vette Z06 you`ll have to go with a Porsche Turbo 911 or SL 55 AMG.Sparky said:

I have a growing interest in the XLR-V!
Although I love my Viper GTS I'm feeling the need for more comfort and refinement. Also bumper to bumper traffic is wearing me down big time.
Looked at an 05 Porsche Boxster the other day and thought it was very nice, a vast improvement over previous years. I didn't drive the Boxster, my big concern with this car is the meager 280hp. Does anyone here have a new Boxster to compare to the XLR?
Thanks,
Brad
Hi Brad, NO WIND NOISE at any speed beside the regular wind noise you have in any car. I used to drive my XLR very fast here on the autobahn, had it up to 278 kph (172 mph). I had in 96 an Eldorado and much wind noise above 200 kph (about 120mph) around the window area. After three C5 Vett`s this one is absolutely the quitest.Sparky said:Well I test drove the Boxster S today, nice sports car, good amount of storage space for such a small car, handles great and little if any wind in cab with top down.
But with top up, I heard too much wind noise over my left shoulder. Dealer said it was normal. The engine also makes enough noise in the cab to remind you its up against your back, and although it has a Bose sound system, it does not sound as good as the XLR.
Still seems the XLR-V is the one to get!
Does anyone have wind noise in their XLR cab with the top up?
Is it as quiet as a coupe?
Are you able to fit enough luggage in the XLR if you go away for a week or two?
Thanks,
Brad
The wind noise is the same as a coupe - much less than a ragtop. Yes, the V is the one to get.Sparky said:Well I test drove the Boxster S today, nice sports car, good amount of storage space for such a small car, handles great and little if any wind in cab with top down.
